My husband has made a friend through work that has a 6 month old girl. When my husband started his new job DS was only a few wks old and DH's friend gave us the Gymboree Baby book. Well, I met the friend and his wife for the first time on Saturday at a company gathering. I mentioned that I liked their DD's Whoozit. Well, guess what was on DH's desk today? A Whoozit for DS!

I mostly shop at Target and Kohl's b/c they are near my house. There are zainy brainy's and right starts a little further away and I have a feeling that most of this little girl's toys come from RS or ZB.

Can anyone think of a cute gift/toy for their DD??? MAybe something personalized or unique.

DS love his Barefoot Dreams Buddie

so I was thinking of ordering a pink rabbit as a gift???

What do you guys think?

Thanks.

The blanket is very cute!!!

When Lane visited Martie, he got her the Lamaze cookie jar. She liked it a lot and I got it at Target.

Christine:

The blanket is very cute. But I'll tell you that Martie loves that cookie jar and even better all of the cookies are machine washable.

Thanks girl! I am kind of afraid to buy her a toy b/c I fear that she already has all the cool ones. So I was thinking of something different. So then I thought..books! You can never go wrong w/ books but which ones does she have??? So......

I am think am going to get these and get a set for DS too!

DH bought DD a Sunshine Symphony by Neurosmith for Christmas last year because someone with a baby the same age came into his restaurant with one. It lights on and plays soft classical music on two settings--touch or movement. Lindsey loved it for quite a while, and it got us through many dinners and night time car trips. I think we got it at Imaginarium, and I think Target carries it now.

When you mentioned books, I immediately thought about these. Actually, we have the Learning Block Books. It's the same concept, but instead of all the letters of the alphabet, the books are organized by color, number and concepts (like pets). DS has lots of fun emptying the box and carrying the books around. He flips through them and sometimes even lets me read them. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0811832783/qid=1066962468/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-7268501-5227319?v=glance&s=books

At that age, DS really loved pop-up books, especially the Snappy Little books. It's hard to know what books she may have.

The lovey that you suggested looks cute.

A neat personalized gift could be a first tooth/first lock of hair keepsake set. I know some of them can be personalized. I thought there was a set on redenvelope.com. Here are some attractive ones: http://www.mymamabear.com/baby-keepsake-box.html

Another idea is one of those baby footprint kits with a place for a picture. We have one and really like it.

Toy-wise, a Skwish by Manhattan Toy would be good as would the Mozart Magic Cube. Both are somewhat unique (but then maybe that's the only kind of toy this little girl has :)).

I also love the Parents Alphablock Sorter (foam blocks covered in cloth, some with plastic teething shapes or rattles that can be removed). It's available at Target and BRU. It is a really neat toy (although I can't find a link to it). It costs between $15 and $20.

HTH Good luck.

This is a really cool toy. DS loved it. The sound quality is INCREDIBLE! Very impressive. There are fun lights too. This wasn't a toy that DS played with once he got mobile, though. I suppose it depends on the child.
