A mom from our playgroup is going to have a signing class at her house (instructor-led). It is going to meet every other Saturday for 45 minutes and there will be 8 sessions. Cost is $50. You can also purchase a handbook and videotape for $50, but don't have to.

I am curious what you think of a class. I don't think $50 is too bad for 8 sessions, but $100 with the videotape & book is more than I want to spend. Would this be beneficial without the videotape and book? Or am I better off getting books or tapes to just do at home on our own?

I took a signing class with Sarah and it was fun. We learned songs to sign along to and Sarah still enjoys those songs. Think of the class like any other "mommy&me" type activity. Personally, I would skip the book and video.
