View Full Version : More OT stuff: rug--brightens room or too much?

Here I am posting about cars, decorating, etc. I hope I'm not too OT here to ask for advice on this.

We recently remodeled our basement as a family room/play room, and I was looking for an area rug to pull together the entertainment side.

We brought home this Pottery Barn rug, and I can't decide if I think it brightens the room or is just too much. The greens match the couch well, and the red tones go with the primary colored chairs/baskets in the play room area. Hmm. Just thought I'd post here and see what you think. Don't worry about offending me. I'm aware that it's hard to pick something without seeing it in the home first.

Thanks,
Lisa

I think that everything is going to look a little odd with white walls. If you picked a complementary color from the rug and painted the walls with it, I think it would do a lot more to bring it all together.

Here's a shot of the other side of the room (play room area).

You're not too OT; that's what we're here for! I'd love to see your rug, but the attachments aren't working. :(

Hmmm. Looks like the attachments were "deleted by forum administrator". Does anyone know why that would have happened? Did I violate a rule that I don't know about?

Thanks,
Lisa

Some other people have also had problems with attachments disappearing. Someone just posted asking Alan & Denise about it. I'm sure you didn't violate any rules.

Well, since posting the link didn't seem to work, here is a shutterfly link with the same pictures:

Hope that works!

I don't think the rug is too much at all. I think it ties in nicely w/ your existing furniture. I do agree that painting the walls would give it all a more complete look.

I really like it! The rug colors are really beautiful and it does match nicely with your furniture. I think it's okay with the white walls but would look nice with colored walls as well. Maybe a sage green?
