did your utilities go up after having a baby?

Our water bill just came in and it was almost 4x's as much as pre-babies! ouch! Is it all the extra laundry and dishwashing? anyone else notice changes in your utilities? I checked the usage and it really was higher, not just the rates. bummer!

Yup-- our water/sewer and our power bills have both gone up. The power bill went up right in line with when I was home from work 2 weeks pre-due date-- probably because I had the air on all the time when I was home. We do a minimum of 3 extra loads of laundry a week now (spit up is a wonderful thing!), so the water/sewer bill's gone up, too.

Add in that my mom was here for 3 weeks (an extra person showering/using electricity), we've had family visiting more often, and that I'm using more dishes at home vs. eating at work for lunch, and yup, our usages are all up, too.

Now I know why my folks used to yell at us if we took long showers :)
