I think Tristan is left handed...he seems to hit the drum and grab with his left hand.

Hey Neve,

I cannot remember when I noticed that Grayson used both hand to write with (maybe when she started decorating my walls??) It seems to be that it was around 1 year. Grayson and Hayden both can write with either hand and Avery is strictly right handed. Kinda of weird...

Colin has definitely favored his right hand for quite a few months now. I suppose he could change his mind, but I'd be surprised if he ended up being a lefty!

Sophie's been left-hand dominant from the get go.

Then again, both Jonathan and I are lefties, so it was kind of inevitable.

Neve, there was a thread a few weeks ago about this...I think twinsrfun (Nicole) was asking. We were convinced that my little brother was a lefty because he favored that hand pretty early on. But that switched when he was about three, and he's a righty. (He's 13 now.)

I think it's normal for kids to use both hands up until they're about three.

I think Joanne is right. They can use either but it isn't until they are 2 or 3 that things are more defined. Matthew only used his left hand until the past 2 months when he began to draw, etc.. and started to use his right.

My mom and I were talking about this recently. She has had conversations with others at her elem. school and says that 'handedness' is not permanent for quite a while; sometimes up to age 5 or older.

Ainsleigh uses her right, mostly, for eating, but she colors/draws with both hands equally, switching back and forth every 10 seconds. It's really funny to watch, actually. I think I've heard it isn't established until 2 years.

I've always heard that kids pick a hand about age 2.

I'm curious to see which hand Gabrielle is going to use. Adrienne was a right handed thumb sucker and is right handed. G sucks her left thumb......

My first two favored their left until they were around 5, not they are committed right handers.

My four year old switches according to activity. And the baby uses both equally....

According to my MIL, who was a psychologist for the Detroit Public School system for many years and a public school art teacher for MANY years before that, handedness is not firmly established until a child is 8-10 years old.
