View Full Version : OT - Swimsuit?

We got into the only swim class offered on a weekend (yay! it was a madhouse) so now I need a swimsuit pronto. Mine are all bikinis for small boobs. Not so much me anymore.

Am looking for a one-piece that I can easily pull to the side/down for BFing. I've looked at some of the nursing suits and man, are they ugly. LE are still a little too matronly for me, and none look conducive to BFing. I'm considering this one from j. crew.

Any other thoughts or good places to find swimsuits?

If you have a Nordstrom's near you, they have them. And our mall has store called "Water, Water Everywhere" which has lots of suits.

I always nurse in the halter tankinis from Land's End... I think they are so easy, and wear really well. They also have long torso suits, which I desperately need.

I'm not matronly at all, ;-) and with the higher leg cuts, you can still be hip.

I have this in black, blue and red:

http://landsend.com/cd/fp/prod/0,,1_2_1930_40208_33663_27368_5:view=593,00.html?s id=6720073704777167120

And I'm eyeing this:

Or the preppy check pattern....;-)

I have a great halter one piece from there, too. And you can find many of the patterns repeating in their different styles.

I like the suit you posted from JCrew. It's darling. It would probably ride up my rear up from being too short, but it's darling, nonetheless! ;-)

We just came back from Florida, and I lived in this from Land's End )blue): http://landsend.com/cd/fp/prod/0,,1_2_1930_40205_94246_72693_5:view=593,00.html?s id=8795013544747166010
It's a tankini, and very easy to nurse in. DH called me "Cleave" the whole trip. Before we went, I ordered 3 from LE, and this was the only one that fit. I couldn't deal with actually going to a store, and figured I would just suck up the S&H.

Cara...

Love that suit. I've been debating over grabbing that in red...

Jessica-definitely get it, it's great. Those tankinis....I always thought they were silly, but they have the coverage of a one piece, with room for "growth". I like the red, but was afraid I'd look like a tablecloth. The halter top is not something I ever thought would work on me, but it looks great. A very 1940's look, and fairly Boxom (?boxum) for this formerly A cup here.... (I hear you Shannon!)

I got the tankini halter style in black for last summer. My DH thought it was sexy and I felt good in it. It is certainly a change to get a "mom" suit--I was breastfeeding--but I know I'll continue to wear it now that I've weaned. It is also very forgiving and flattering.

Shannon...I LOVE that suit. I think it is super cute yet really classy! Please let me know how you like it if you order it. I am going to check out if it comes in long torso.

A question for LE Tankini fans...
I am searching for a Long torso suit. I ordered a regular suit off of Overstocks last fall and returned it. It was a 3 leg opening but the suit came up to my midback and looked like something my grandma might wear. I am now thinking about the Tankini but I can't find a picture of what the bottoms look like. Do they come up over the belly button? I don't want to wear something too "high".

Man, they added to the LE site since I looked last week! Those are a lot cuter than the ones I saw. I may order one from each place and plan on returns. There is NOTHING in town right now. Keep making suggestions if there are any other good places (particularly online -- no time to make it out of C-ville right now.)

edited to add:
ohhhh, i figured it out. you don't access all the suits with My Virtual Model (who, by the way, looks dumpy. Ugh.)

Did you try Motherwear? I bought a 2 piece tankini on sale last summer and it has the slits for nursing. It was super convenient. I could pull up the top layer to nurse and still have some coverage on my tummy.

they don't have any right now. i wasn't terribly happy with motherwear clothing, though. i'm fairly big-breasted right now, and the panels made me look extra lumpy. swimsuit was better? maybe I'll look on ebay.

ARGH! Oh, don't TELL me that there are no suits in C'ville...I was going to buy one this weekend for my class.

Have you tried Freestyle up on Rio Rd? They have great one pieces. No real nursing friendly suits, but I figure I won't be nursing in the pool during the class (LOL!).

i'm looking ahead to our trip to Puerto Rico in June for a wedding. i plan to stay in a swimsuit as much as possible :) so i wanted one that was easy for BFing.

btw, sorry you can't come tonight! have a nice quiet night in with nash -- order a gooey pizza or something.

Maybe less lumpy. The lyrca was not too drape-y and more form fitting than their regular tops. Good luck! Also, I once saw a nursing suit on blissfulbabes.com. Maybe there also?!?

I'm another fan of the tankinis from LE. They are very convenient to just pull up the top to nurse. The baby covers your tummy so it's not too bad. I actually nursed on the beach and at the pool last summer with no problems and nary a flash of boob to anyone! LOL!
