I just received an invitation to a Baby Sprinkle. Has any one been to one of these before? What goes on at a Baby Sprinkle? I assume that it's somewhat like a Baby Shower, but are guests expected to bring gifts or what? The Baby Sprinkle is being thrown for a mom in my playgroup who is expecting her second child.

I've never heard of that. I would assume it's like a baby shower, but since it's a second, she doesn't need to be "showered" with gifts, just "sprinkled" to fill in any gaps she has in the stuff she saved from #1. Is she registered? I would think it more important to check a registry for a 2nd+ baby. I would call the hostess and ask her.

A Baby Sprinkle sounds like what DH and I got at every diaper change for the first 2 weeks of DS's life...

sorry, couldn't resist...

I was given a "sprinkle" by a group of my friends- and it was the same as a shower. It typically is for a 2nd or 3rd baby that is the same gender as the first. So they don't need a whole lot, but in my case I did (it was 11 years between kids and I gave Everything away). Just a suggestion- if she doesn't need much, give her a few dates that you will come by with a dinner for the family right after she gives birth. The friends that did that were the most appreciated by me.

This is a great idea! I've always thought that baby showers should be given for every baby, even if it's number 10! Showers should be a celebration! And, every mom needs more diapers and a few new cute outfits. I'll have to remember the Baby Sprinkle idea.
