View Full Version : Charlie's surgery update....

Charlie’s surgery was from 7:30-8:15 this morning, and went really well. Actually, he fell asleep in his little waiting room (in his daddy’s arms) and didn’t even know when they took him back for the procedure! We tried to get a discount from the anesthesiologist, but doubt it’ll happen! Ha. Seriously, I can't imagine a better way to have him taken off- wrapped in a warm blanket, snuggling and sleeping soundly in the arms of the anesthesiologist. Incidentally, the anesthesiologist was the same woman who gave Julie an epidural eight months ago today, when Charlie was born.

The pediatric surgeon tied off his left inguinal hernia, and did exploratory surgery on the right side- which didn’t have a hernia. Everything went great, he woke up pretty quickly, calmed down when he started bfing again, and since returning home, he has been chowing down on his daddy’s hash browns like he’d missed a weeks worth of meals (not something his mommy would have ever offered, but oh, well)! We think he’s gonna be just fine ;)

Our family really appreciates your prayers, thoughts, and encouragement surrounding Charlie’s surgery.

Oh my goodness, he is SO cute! But oh how vulnerable he looks in that hospital gown, your heart must have hurt. So glad to hear it went well and he is back home and happily eating hash browns. There is a time and place for yummy food.

Great news! I'm so glad Charlie came through the surgery so well and that you can quit worrying now. What a relief it must be for you! Seeing him in his little hospital gown reminds me of our DD when she got tubes put in her ears. They do look so tiny and vulnerable like that.

What a beautiful boy! As a nurse I love the one of him with the bp cuff on his arm. He looks totally intrigued by it rather than scared. So wonderful to see that. And thrilled that he made it through the procedure without a hitch.

I'm so glad everything went smoothly and wonderfully! Not only should you get a discount from the anesthesiologist for handing her a sleeping baby, but come on, shouldn't there be some sort of family discount since you used her less than a year ago? I hope Charlie is enjoying his hash browns and all of the extra hugs he's getting today!
