I am looking for something which my DD might like to use as her first lovey. I know you can't force a particular one on a child, but I thought perhaps I could offer one or two and see if she likes one of them.

I looked through old posts on this topic and I was wondering if anyone had one of these:

if so how big are they anyway? No dimensions are given, but they are super cute, washable and look soft.

And what about schoedels/cuskis? Those little doll/blanket objects that supposedly soak up the scent of the parents (who wear them close to their skin).

Just wondering about personal experiences as well. I am hoping to find something relatively small that can be carted around easily.

DS doesn't have a lovey, but my nephew has one that he absolutely adores. I must admit, it is very cute. It's soft and not to big, so it's easy for my SIL to tote around. It's the Puppy Blankie Buddy. Here's a link: http://tinyurl.com/2d2qh A little blanket can be pulled out or put inside the puppy. There is also a duck version: http://tinyurl.com/353sl She bought my nephew's lovey at Buy Buy Baby.

Laura's lovey, which she chose for herself, is the "Eden Terry Girl Doll", which can be seen at (among other places): http://www.alltrainsandtoys.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=647

She LOVES this doll. It is washable and not too large.

I just got this doll for Logan. Does yours have a rattle in it and crinkly arms? I was hoping it would be her lovie, but it is noisy and I suppose that is not good for sleeping.

Karen, Laura's doll doesn't have a rattle or crinkly arms. It's very quiet. :-) Maybe they started making a different model?

We have one of those -- Z-Dog. With the ears not extended, he's about 11.5 inches long. It's really cute and soft, but so much bigger than we expected. We also have their bear blanket blanket (Mr. Boo). Check out this site for the blankets:

DS is only 4 months old, so I have no idea yet if either of these will be successful as a lovey -- but if they are, I'll have to rush and order a few more!

hanks so much Grace! Did you order the small version? I wanted to get the bunny one, it looks sort of like My Melody (Hello Kitty's bunny pal) from my childhood =D

You're welcome. Yes, I think we did get the small -- I don't remember paying $28 for the medium. :)

You're right, the bunny does look sort of like My Melody. I loved My Melody when I was a kid (had a pencil case and a tote bag). Can't believe that I didn't make that connection!
