Does anyone know...I suspect Flagger you might-but my inbox for emails is getting flooded with attachements from people and the subject is not only "hi" but also things like undeliverable etc... I am almost certain these are a virus or my computer catching a virus BUT do these virus attempts ever stop or will I be getting this many emails like this daily...it is a lot...

HENCE I hate when folks send me something and you can see everyones email address that they sent to...don't folks kow that exposes you email to their stuff...

we get them on a semi-regular basis. usually we get a flood of them, then nothing for weeks at a time.

one thing i always want to say when i see you post your email address is that i would be careful of posting it in a public place like this! or is that being too cautious?

Why is that, I really don't know...I thought virus are sent non purposely in otherwords my email address could send one to someone??? See I know nothing about them...if you put it here what does it do...I know it exposes yout address to folks but how does that inturn into getting a virus...

YIKES...
I have noticed a huge increase in them though, and have put my address here many times lately...
HMMM...any info to educate me woud be greatly appreciated...I'm quick to catch them but I just am getting to many...

i can't say for sure, but have had folks tell me not to post my email before for that reason. instead, a lot of people will post their email with spaces in there e.g. jane doe @ yahoo.com

i've heard that people have programs set up searching for emails. but honestly i could be talking out my butt on this one. i hope someone can give us the REAL answer!

Neve: Sounds like the mydoom virus is hitting you in floods. You should be OK as long as you don't open any attachments and regularly scan your system with the most updated anti-virus software.

If you are like us and allowed McAfee/Norton to expire after the free trial, my IT DH recommends AVG Anti-Virus. It's free and he swears it works better than McAfee or Norton. You can get it here: http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php

ETA: MYDOOM spreads if you open the attachment. It will start sending itself to everyone in your address book so you probably got it from someone who emails you from time to time.

Edited again since DH is reading over my shoulder :) - it's also not necessarily from the person it says it's from. DH wants to make sure you don't go ballistic on friends. LOL

I know when I post my email address for people, I do it by spelling out @ as "at" or putting spaces. There are ways to scan websites like this for email addresses for later spamming. I just don't want the spam. The way they scan for it can't catch emails if you type them incorrectly (like w/ spaces and such).
