.....but not anything written by "miss manners"-I find her writing style to be irritating. Any ideas?

I have Amy Vanderbilt's book, which is comprehensive--I would recommend it. I also have Craig Claiborne's "Elements of Etiquette," which is good, but much shorter (and just deals with table manners). HTH!

Sorry,

cannot help with the guide, however, I am glad to see I am not the only who finds MM annoying. Is it me, or is it rude to refer to yourself in the third person? What is she, a queen?

You can't go wrong with Emily Post's Etiquette.

(sarcastically) What, you don't appreciate writing where the author refers to herself in third person all the time? Denise just can't imagine. ;)
