We're in the throes of a nap/eat/sleep habit shift now that we're almost 14 mos., and I'm just wondering what everyone else's day looks like -- I'm always wondering if I'm doing something wrong, I wish there was a handbook for this SAHM thing!

Right now, we wake up at about 7 am, eat breakfast and play until 9 am when Sesame Street comes on Noggin and mommy gets on the treadmill (blast those last 10 lbs!), then he'll either take a nap at about 10:30/11, we'll eat lunch when he wakes up and then play (I've been trying to get us outdoors and have him run around now that the weather has been improving), another nap at about 3:30, a snack at 5, then dinner at 7 with us when Daddy comes home, a bath, some stories and bed by 8:30 or so. Is this about normal? He naps about 3 hours/day, but he's been waking up at night like crazy and he hasn't been settling back down easily like he used to.

TIA!

It sounds like you have a nice rhythm to your day. If you can get it through you library SEVEN TIMES THE SUN is a nice resource for daily rhythms.

My kids gave up their AM nap at about 14 months.

Colleen wakes up at 0630 and she and DH are out the door by 0730. She eats a small breakfast at home and then has 2nd breakfast about 8:15 at her nana's (what she calls her home daycare provider- much to my mom's dismay!). She naps at 9:00 for 45 min - 1 hr. Luch at 11:00. Then 2nd nap at 1:00. Snack at 4:30. Dinner at 6:00 and bed at 7:30. HTH!
She used to go to bed at 6:30-7:00 but is now staying up later - I'm PG w/ #2 so I often go to bed at 8:00 so yes, 7:30 is later!!
I'm wondering how much longer we will still have two naps but she just cannot make it to eat lunch and then taje the one and only nap.

Yes, we're in the DC area. We used to lve in NW up by the Cathedral (hence the "DCmommy" thing), but we moved to the 'burbs in the fall and now we're in McLean right by Tysons Corner. Where in Alexandria are you? I take Patrick for walks in Old Town all the time!

Okay, so we are at 14 1/2 months, but here is our schedule -
8 am (give or take 15 minutes) wake up
eat large breakfast (bagel/banana)
play/read
10/10:30 eat a snack (yogurt)
11 am nap
12:30/1 pm up from nap
lunch
2/3 snack (more yogurt)
3:30/4 nap
5:30/6 up from nap
snack for a while
dinner
another snack (yogurt)
8:30/9 bed

DD will not drink milk so we feed her lots of whole milk yogurt and cottage cheese. Maybe your baby needs more to eat. If you can get him to eat something right before bedtime he might sleep a little more soundly. Before DD self-weaned at 13 months she would get up 3-4 times to nurse every night. Then she got an ear infection, went on a nursing strike and weaned herself. Consquently, her solid intake has gone up 300% and she started sleeping through the night. So I think there is a direct link between a full tummy and a full night's sleep!:)

Gabrielle is almost 22 months, but she's been on the same schedule for quite a while.

7 am wakes, eats
9:30 or 10 takes a 45 minute (used to be an hour) nap
11 or so-lunch
1:30 or 2 goes down for a 2 hour or so nap
5 pm supper
7 or 7:30 bedtime

DD is 13 months old, and here is her schedule:

8:00 wake up
11:30 Lunch
12:30~2:00/2:30 nap
3:30 snack
5:30 dinner
7:30 go to bed

It's so interesting to see other baby's schedules around this age!
