Neve, My sis uses one at her house when she has Nolan. She clamped him to the coffee table lol. It seemed to work fin, but he isn't it often.

One word of caution--if your child can kick a table leg or a center pedestal on a table from where he/she is sitting, then this kind of product is not safe. Jack managed to use his feet to almost push something like this off of the table when he was a little older than Tristan. So it really depends on your dining setup.

Edited to add: we also do have the Kinderzeat for Jack, and it works great. It's nice to be able to adjust the height of the seat and the footrest.

FWIW, Neve, we've got the Kinderzeat and Abigail REALLY loves it. It's way more comfy than a highchair or hook-on chair because the baby's legs don't dangle. Several websites sell it with free shipping or a free cushion. I've sat on it, and it really is plenty comfortable.

I always worry about the stability of the table with things like that (of course if it's just use at home w/ your own table then you know it's safe).

We have the greatest chair. My mom got it at an unfinished furniture store. It fits right up to the table, and has a little foot rest. The back of it is shaped like a -U- so that when scooted up to the table, Ds is completely surrounded. The only way to fall out would be by slinking down (there's no center bar or strap or anything). I'm not sure if this would be an issue with a 1 yo, but it's fine for our 2 yo.

It looked like this before we finished it:

I don't think I could relax with the contraption for fear of a dog nose pusing it off while begging or something...

Thank you all!!!!
I am going to look further at the Kinderzeat...it just didn't look comfie to me but I knew it HAD to be since everyone loves them...and jsut the word "Kinder" was enough to convince me!!!!
I think that is what we will get!!!
Thank you again for the responses!!!!

I know several women who have this one and they rave about it...

I'm registered for this one (below) because it is 'infant to toddler', since it has a recline feature...

We're going to use that instead of a regular high chair for many reasons.

edited to put correct link.

Neve,

We have the Kinderseat and love it. I am actually going to buy one for Grace also when she turns one. Kids don't seem to mind the plain wood - they don't sit for that long anyway :). We also have one of those plastic booster seats like in the above post. It straps to a regular chair. We use it without the tray and Grace is right up at the table with us. I have to say I really love it. I bought it to use in California because we are only out here for a few months and I thought it would be easy. It really is, and it is making me wonder if i EVER REALLY NEEDED A HIGH CHAIR! If you aren't sure about the Kinderseat the booster is definitely a cheap alternative. Good luck.

Hi Bonnie, you won't be disappointed, I don't think. We used a similiar booster like that instead of a high chair, as well.

HMMM...the first one looks comfortable, but I like the colors of the second one...I know I will get flamed for this, but my goal is to keep as much plastic out of the house though, I just think so many of these things are too obvious, colorful and "out there"...
I've avoided the plastic high chairs till now, and though T can use his wooden one, I'm ready for him to join us at the table...

BUT they do look comfie and I am going to check then out...the one you have registered for has "classy" colors that would fit into a decor I feel!!!!

Hee hee, yes, I totally get what you mean about the colors and even the plastic issue.

The blue/green one actually has a white tray, not a green one like the pic shows, the green thingy is just a cover to keep dust from collecting on the actual tray that the baby eats off of. And, I believe that both boosters allow the trays to be taken off and put into the dishwasher. Also, folks who have these bring them to restaurants to avoid having to use the restaurant highchairs. They're also easy to bring on a trip to a friend/grandma's house, etc.

eta: I think that since these get put directly onto one of your chairs and can then be sort of tucked under the table might make them somewhat discreet.

We have the recline one at a relative's house. DD loves it. She plays with the toys on it. It is great to take to out dinner. I actually like it better than our expensive pappa chair.

Neve I used to think that too until I got one. I have the Inglesina one and it is very secure once it is installed, no one could knock it off.

We use ours:
- at restaurants like Bennigans where there is no room between tables and we sit at a booth
- when we go bowling, set up at the table behind our lane so Logan can eat and watch the portable DVD player and play with toys
- in hotel rooms when traveling. I was away on business for a week and took Logan with me and my mom to babysit. This chair was not only a place to feed her, it was a safe place to put her while my mom went to the bathroom quickly or was using the iron or something.

It's really plush and comfy and Logan seems to like sitting in it. We keep it in the car all the time.

Neve,

Lola's tush has graced a Kinderzeat (sans cushion) since she was about a year and she has never complained. If you're really concerned about comfort I'd tell you to make or have your seamstress make a vinyl covered seat cushion rather than buying the one made by Stokke. I'm very into wipablity/cleanability and know that a fabric cushion would drive me bananas.

You know i thought the same about the Kinderzeat when i first saw it but it's been a great investment. The children all like ous, to be honest i've even sat in it ;)

It's a strange design so it's sorta one of those things you have to see/use to fully get why it works kwim?

I have used hook ons in the past, but table lips always caused me problems.

GL!
