I don't normally do this since I don't have a digital camera, but I was inspired by Lori's cute pictures of Colin to show Matthew's first trip to the beach!

I couldn't see that he was trying to eat the sand...luckily we managed to keep most of it out of his mouth.

Edited to ask: Does anyone know how I can get these smaller????

Too cute! So, did he figure out after the first taste, that sand is not particularly appetizing? We are thinking of a sandbox for Jake and debating whether he will continue to eat sand after his first taste or give it up after the first try? Seems like I need to ask someone with firsthand experience....like you!

Andrea,
He gave up quickly, which was a relief. However, I don't know that the memory has stuck with him and he wouldn't try it again!

Hopefully he'll remember, but I doubt it! Anyway, it was great for a photo op! Thanks for sharing!

Allison, those pictures of Matthew are precious. He is adorable! (And you need to frame that first one. It's a classic shot wth Matthew eating sand, but with you looking all gorgeous and wind-blown! :))

Allison I cannot believe what a big boy he is becoming!!!! Ryan can't wait to meet him. Don't let Matthew teach him the sand trick, since we deal with paper in his mouth all day long around here. :)

He is precious!

Adorable pictures. He is such a big boy now!

As for the sand issue... we take DS to the beach a couple times a week, and I've got to say that at least half of the time sand ends up all over his mouth. It's not that he wamts to eat it, it's just that he forgets that he has been crawling around in sand and then sticks his hand in his mouth, the way that he always does:) It's pretty funny because it is ALWAYS a surprise to him.;)

Allison,

Those are so cute! He is adorable. I am afraid to take Kai to the
beach now that he is mobile - he had a mouth full of wood chips at
the park today and I didn't even notice because it was playgroup and
there was fruit and cheerios everywhere, so I thought he was
eating...and eatin...and eating. Luckily he didn't try to swallow
them!

As to making your pictures smaller, what I always do (and I am NO
expert, so there are probably lots of ways - I have photoshop, and
I go to the "save for web" option and then I click on the image
size tab and make it smaller until it is around 30-50 kb.
That usually seems to be a good size for posting them.
I realize you may not have photoshop, but if you look
for similar options in whatever picture-viewing software
you have.

I took the liberty of trying to make your picture (the first one)
smaller...let's see if it worked...Here's the other one too!

Deborah,
You are the coolest...that is so great! I don't have Photoshop but I'll play around with the photo editor and see if I can just reduce them that way. I didn't think I could, but maybe!

Wow, it's nice to read that you are cool when you are sitting at the computer with a "turbie twist" in your hair! Glad to help, and it only took a couple minutes!

I just made sure to put Matthew in big letters because I didn't want you to think I was passing them off as Kai pictures!!!
