WOW!

I think that was the most profound thing I may have seen on the web. It totally took me back to Ellen's birth. I'm in tears!

Do you know what the music is?

I grabbed a tissue too...thanks for sharing!

As for the music, the first song is Beatles--maybe someone else can help w/ what song, and the second song is by the Flaming Lips, "Do You Realize?". Both beautiful songs.

It's Mother Nature's Son...it's on our Baby Beatles lullabye CD, and also on our Beatles for Kids CD (though the second is sung by kids).

What a beautiful site and announcement!

That was really beautiful. DD came over when the music changed at watched the remaining part. She gave it a thumbs up - actually it's more of an wide open mouth smile that she does when she just finished watching something she really, really likes!

Do you know if it was a professional photographer who took the photos? I would love to have something like that done with a future birth, but I don't know someone who could take photos like that, and that I would feel comfortable with..

Thanks for sharing, that was absolutely beautiful.

I am totally crying. BUT BUT BUT, not to be cynical, but she seemed to be very serene there laboring slightly reclining on her back. I looked like a mad woman, the photos would have been scary.

In my experience, homebirth photos tend to show more serene moms as a whole. It's calmer, quieter, and free of intervention, so there's generally less anxiety and more ability to just focus on the birth. Also, this was her fourth baby, so she knew the ropes. My birth photos (in a birth center) are pretty serene, too, even though I was having horrific back labor for 38 hours. I wasn't scared and wasn't being directed or moved or interrupted or messed with, so there was no need for a chaotic kind of reaction.
