Hello Everyone!

My sweet Ellen just turned nine months old this weekend!yay! and I was thinking about her first birthday party. I want to find music and need your help! I'm specifically interested in children's "instrumental" music, like the Snoopy theme music and Baby Elephant Walk. These are the only two I know of off the top of my head. Can you help me think of more?

Thanks!

I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for, but George Winston's Linus and Lucy might be worth a listen. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000000NLH/103-8153473-6209426 Another song that came to mind was Man on the Flying Trapeze (although there are words to the song, most people don't know them). I know that Twinkle, Twinkle has instrumental versions, but that may not be what you are looking for. How about Brahm's Lullaby? If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

ETA: Here's a link to some concert selections being performed by the orchestra for kids this summer in my area. That may give you some ideas. http://www.picnicwiththepops.com/popcorn.htm

My lullaby CD, "Beautiful Dreamer" by Robyn Spielberg, is filled with gorgeous piano versions of children's songs. If you want to go the classical route, I know that Debussy (sp?) did alot of playful children's music, like "Golliwog's Cakewalk".

The Land of Nod has a GREAT selection of children's music. They have a huge selection of the Peanuts theme music CDs, which are instrumental...we have the "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" soundtrack. It's upbeat, kind of jazzy...for adults and kids alike.

Also, I really like the Baby Einstein classical CDs. We have Bach, Mozart & Galileo (the CDs, not the DVDs), and one of them is always in the CD changer.
