View Full Version : Computer laptops and pregnancy

Is there a radiation issue? I used a desktop my entire pregnancy with Sophie, but use the laptop (Apple PowerBookG4) almost exclusively now.

Any ideas?

I've never heard this and I was a laptop junkie throughout my entire pregnancy. I'll be curious to see what others say.

I used a laptop at work through my entire pregnancy and never heard that was an issue. Why would there be an issue with a laptop and not a desktop?

Well I can't say for sure but I worked in the IT industry for years and used a laptop for probably 6 years (including during my pregnancy) and never ever have heard anything about it being a problem. While I was pregnant I read all kinds of books and articles about pregnancy and I think somewhere along the line I would have heard about it if this was a problem. The biggest problems I've had and seen w/laptops is problems with your wrists, neck, etc from poor alignment or posture.

I sure hope there is no real issues, because I spent hours on this board everyday when I was pregnant with DD. Here is some info from baby center:

My vision has worsened though since pregnancy which I attributed to too much staring at the computer.
