Who needs pediatricians when we have the BBB? :)
Kylee has a mysterious skin issue that I need help with. A week and a half ago, she made a mess on her clothes at daycare, and I hadn't replaced her extra outfit there, so they had to put something on her that they had there. That evening I noticed tiny little pink bumps that were slightly raised all over her chest. I figured it was probably just the detergent they had used which was odd because Kylee has never had any detergent issues. We had a well baby visit the next day, so I asked the ped about it and he said that he thought it was just dry skin, that detergent gets blamed a lot of times, but he's not convinced that it's really an issue. Since then, the rash has grown to be basically all over. Her forehead looks like it's peeling and her face has some areas that are really raw. She keeps scratching at it, so sometimes I think it must itch, but she also scratches me and the couch too, so she may just be experimenting with how things feel. I'm not sure. I've had several ideas of what it might be (and several well-meaning grandmas and great grandmas telling me what it is :P). Since Kylee really started crawling recently, I thought that perhaps it really is dry skin that is just getting irritated by rubbing against the carpet. Or I thought maybe it was a food allergy. I don't really know what a food allergy looks like I guess. The only foods she's had though are bananas, peaches, and applesauce, so none of those are very allergenic. She did have a couple of zwieback toast things though, and I noticed that those have wheat flour and sugar in them. Could that be the culprit? My sister was allergic to sugar when she was a baby. I looked into both hand, foot, and mouth disease (she doesn't have bumps on her hands or feet really) and roseola (she did run a fever, but she also had immunizations and ear infections in this time; plus the description made it seem like it should already have gone away; and I heard that you don't get roseola on face?). I've thought that maybe the part on her forehead is her cradle cap spreading. And her face is more raw than the rest of her body because she's been drooling and having a runny nose, both of which she insists on rubbing all over her entire face. So, I've just been putting Eucerin all over. I don't really know what else to do, but I'm ready for this to go away. Thanks for reading this novel and thanks for any suggestions!
