What about the price of milk?

We've had the gas discussion; now what about milk? What are you paying?

Our cheapest milk WAS $2.79/gallon and $2.50/gallon if you bought 2 or more. It's now $3.59/gallon and $3.19/gallon if you buy 2 or more. YIKES!! This is for 'regular' skim milk. I haven't been buying whole milk for ds long enough to notice the patterns.

Our milk just went up, too! It was $2.99 a gallon for the store brand (which is what I buy) and it just jumped to $3.59 a gallon. It used to be that I could occasionally find it on sale for 4 1/2gallons for $5 (making it cheaper than 2 gallons) but I guess that won't be happening now. :( I have two milk-guzzling little boys...guess we'll have to make a sacrifice somewhere else in the grocery budget! ;)

I just paid $2.78 a gallon for 2%, but last week it was on sale for $2.00 a gallon--- which made it cheaper than regular unleaded gas (at $2.38).

I can't explain it, but I'm highly amused at the thought of gas being cheaper than milk, which is really silly because the more I think about it, gas is almost always cheaper than milk, so nevermind.

I'll crawl back to my corner now.

Our store brand is regularly $2.89/gallon now, but was on sale for $1.99/gallon.

The 1/2 gallon is regularly priced at $1.99 now.

At the grocery store, $4.50 for a gallon of anything. At BJs, $2.08. Yikes!

Sorry, that's $4.18/gallon. No difference between skim or whole. Still the same at BJs. So, to BJs!!! :)

My milk used to be $2.59 at Safeway and $2.19 at Costco (thats 2%). I actually paid $2.50 yesterday at Safeway (it was on sale 2 for $5), but the regular price at the grocery store is now $3.59.

I paid $4.89 this weekend at Meijer for Horizon Organic. Steep.

Jessica, was that a half gallon? I have never seen Horizon in a full gallon. I have never seen any organic milk in a gallon.

Surprisingly, the organic milk I buy has not increased (Northwest Family?). But it is normally $3.69/half gallon, so it's plenty pricey already!

I think ours is $2.89 right now, but I have paid $3.19 before, in a convenience store. Its stayed at just under $3 for about 3 years now.
