LOL! I'm always struggling with these too. And, now that I see how many choices there are, I see why. I hate "universal symbols." I think that only means that regardless of what language you speak, you'll have no idea what the symbol means. The same thing applies to instructions that have no written words, only pictures (Hello, Little Tikes!). Those are so confusing.
