Stupid question: How does one RATE a topic?

I wanted to Rate the VOTING PIN DESIGN thread as a MUST READ but when i rate it, nothing happens... please help! I am assuming that rating it will keep it at the top of the page right?

I have no idea about the ratings... I just tried it myself and I don't think anything happened.

Could one of the mods please make the voting thread a sticky? Thank you!!!!!

Rating it won't stick it to the top - the mods have to do that. It will just put some stars in the far right column on the topic screen.

ETA: I think it would keep it at the top if someone had their list of posts sorted by "Rating" but that is not the default so I doubt anyone does that.
