I've been trying to call my friend in Micronesia (in the Peace Corps) and have run into some snags. I have used OneSuite previously, but for some reason it hasn't been working. I'm still trying to get my issue resolved with them (while of course my money sits in the account. GRRR!!!).

The phone cards from Sam's Club get me about 45 minutes for $20, but getting one takes coordination since we don't have a Sam's Club membership. I unknowingly bought a random phone card today and when I called for the rate, it's $1.67/minute. Yowza!! So that's out too since it would only give me 12 minutes. Double GRRR!!!!

I really would like to call her in the morning. What non-bank breaking options (at least under $1/minute, preferably well under) that don't require me to leave the house tonight do I have?

ETA - Has anyone used www.nobelcom.com? I just found them and it looks decent.

I've heard good things about http://www.bigzoo.com. It is similar to OneSuite, but a different company. I have been using OneSuite myself for a year and a half without a problem. I just have to remember to add $10 to keep my account active every six months! I have saved quite a bit on long distance using it.

I was going to recommend OneSuite - I'm so sorry you're having trouble with them! I've really liked them for calling my folks in the Netherlands. I have also heard good things about Big Zoo, though.

Check out WDT. You call an 800 number, so it's like a calling card. It is $0.67 a minute to Micronesia, but I don't really know how that compares to others. We use this as our long distance company.
