I'm at my wits' end. DS is 14 weeks old (3 months) and all of a sudden doesn't want to take naps. When I do get him down, he can't seem to fall into a deep sleep - wakes up after 15-45 minutes and I have to rock him back to sleep. When he finally settles in for the night (after waking a couple of times shortly after going down), he's waking up every two hours. We already swaddle him. If we don't, he hits himself and wakes himself up. Any ideas what is causing this or what I should do? Maybe just some hope that there's light at the end of the tunnel?

Right around 12 weeks of age, babies wake up neurologically. They go through this huge burst of brain development, and it tends to interfere with things like sleep. At that age, he should be going down for a nap within about 2 hours of waking up, or he'll be overtired and have a hard time sleeping. Is he waking at night because he's hungry? Some babies need to eat often through the night at that age.

Have you been through the 3-month growth spurt yet? That would do it, too!

Hmmm... great name, and great day of the month for your little guy!
