WAY OT: Days of our Lives

Sorry for the frivilous subject but this is on during C's naptime so I unfortunately got sucked in to it. I have to ask one question though - What is the deal with Belle's character? There is now a 3rd actress playing her in as many weeks. Were they having "tryouts?". At least the actress on today's show really does have long hair instead of the last one that was obviously wearing a wig.

I had read that the actress they first hired to replace the original Belle had a really, really tough time adjusting to the pace of the soap schedule and so she was replaced her after a day or two. I haven't watched DOOL, but I'm really excited that Julie Pinson (from the old defunct soap Port Charles and a fave of mine), will be on that DOOL soon, playing Billie. Maybe I'm going to have to tape the show and watch it. :)

I thought the second Belle was terrible and actually stopped watching because she got on my nerves so bad. It was like watching a high school play. I miss the old Belle but the new one is so much better than the last. I actually made it through most of today's episode without getting annoyed with the character.

I thought the long hair was a wig and it was still the same bad new Belle. It's painful to watch her talk--like she's talking over braces or something.

A new new Belle started today, but I didn't catch it (according to www.soapoperafan.com/days)... From the picture up on that site, she looks a little old and slutty to be Belle.

Okay, I now have a big red L for LOSER on my forehead. Back to stripping wallpaper.

And what's up with Mr. Quartermaine (from General Hospital) being Uncle Mickey???

The new one that started yesterday is so much better than that awful actress they've had the last couple of weeks!!!!

I thought that Uncle Mickey looked familiar, thanks for letting me in on to who he is.

As far as John Black, he's such a bohunk. Especially the look he gives when he is thinking about something or upset.

OK, not for nothing, but I am so secretly glad there are other Days fans here. I admit, it is the biggest guilty pleasure that I have in my life. Even sadder is that I TIVO it everyday and now have DH addicted to it and we watch it during dinner.
I hated real Belle. I was surprised that I was able to hate the first new Belle as much as I hated the original. Now with very new Belle, well, now I hate to admit but she isn't that bad. I could take over this whole board with commentary on the show. Let me know who is in! Does anyone else think that either Jack, Jennifer or Patrick should die already? I mean come on, that coin can't be that lucky!!!
And you mean to tell me that stupid Shawn Brady in those stupid pants can't overpower Jan Spears? Or that people BELIEVE Jan Spears? Where is Zach? Can anyone tell me that? Does anyone know what happened to Carrie? Or Eric for that matter?
What a dumb show. It's like heroin. You know it's bad for you, you try it, then you are hooked for life. I secretly love it. I can admit that here.

Welcome to the loser club. Hee hee. Am I the only one who watches the end of each episode saying "Why do I watch this?" I've been saying this since college.

That cage with Shawn. Give me a break.

I must've been working when Carrie was taken off the show, but I do know that Eric is in Colorado.

And while I was watching my other trashy show, Newlyweds with Nick & Jessica, Jessica was talking about how she used to date the guy who played Eric. He dumped her for LeAnn Rhimes and I think she found out about it by watching some entertainment show.

I think my brain will be so happy when the Olympics start and Days will be on a two week break.

I haven't watched too much Days since college (although I tried to watch it during my maternity leave). I have to confess that I am still stuck on how all the "babies" on the show, i.e. Brady, Belle, Philip all magically aged like 15 years but no one else did.

Didn't Carrie run off to live happily ever after with Mike Horton? I thought that was what happened about 4-5 yrs ago.

I still follow the story by reading the little paragraph summary in the newspaper's TV guide every week, but honestly don't have the patience for it most of the time. I was home the other day and was getting too annoyed with Marlena to keep watching.

The Shawn cage is hysterical. Do you see the giant holes in the ceiling? Stand on the bed, genius! Argh. And can you imagine how BAD he smells???

You know what's worse than watching it? Watching it and reading the closed captions. I catch it during DD's nap and have the tv down low so I have to READ it. Try it. It's way worse to read it than just hear them say the lines. I feel my brain cells withering every time I watch! ;)

I will say that I've been pleasantly surprised with Philip's acting. I can't remember the actor's name - the guy from Real World Chicago.

Part of the reason I watch soaps from time to time (Days + General Hospital) is that I've watched both shows off + on since I was young + it's like visiting with family. Pathetic as that might sound, it's true for me since the plot lines move so slowly + there are often references to people + events fromt the past. These days I watch GH once or twice a week since it's during DS's naptime.
