My doctor told me you can take your basic Robitussin (guanifesin(sp?))and sudafed, although I avoided that during my pg (and even now) because it always makes me wired. I think I read somewhere on these boards that you can also take benadryl? Can someone confirm or deny?

Hope you feel better soon! I'm in the middle of my first cold since DD was born and I feel awful! So I can sort of commiserate.

I had terrible coughing several times when I was pregnant. According to the list my OB gave me, you can take plain Robitussin (guaifenisen) or Robitussin DM. You might want to check with your OB, though, I think some don't allow the "DM" variety but I'm not sure.

If lozenges would help, you should be able to have the Vitamin C ones. My OB said not to worry about excess Vitamin C because a lot of it will be peed out anyway. Just don't use Cold-Eeze or anything like that because of all the zinc.

Mary, my OB told me it was ok to take zinc supplements for my cold a few weeks ago. Have you heard different?

I know zinc is necessary during pregnancy, but thought that excessive amounts weren't good. I'll update if I can find why. If your OB said it was OK, I'm sure you're fine.
