Our dossier is complete!!!! That is our paperwork to go to Ukraine.
I am faxing it to a gentleman tonight to look over and "approve" before FEd Exing tomorrow to Ukraine.

My friend has offered their fax machine...
Stupid question but these obviously contain some very personal info in that it discusses our salary...and our mortgage...our investments, and there is nothing else in there that I don't want friends to read...but it discusses our health, our marriage, family etc...which I don't care about.

IF I send via fax from a "regular home fax machine" is there a way that that fax machine "retains" a copy of what is sent where my privacy could be jeaporidized????

Does that make sense...I guess I remember at the hospital if we sent something and it didn't go thru it would kick out a sheet of paper or so that had what you faxed on it.

Does this question make sense????
In other words I will go to Office Depo if there is a chance that my neighbor/friend could read certain documents in the dossier if we use their machine and then leave with our documents...

Thank you to anyone who knows, and I hope that makes sense...

The only thing it might retain in memory would be the number you are faxing to. Fax machines do not keep the actual faxes in their memory.

Hi Neve,

Congratulation BTW, and no, nothing would be retained in memory. The only thing is that the film in the fax machine would have an imprint of what you sent. But someone would have to be awfully nosy or really interested to look throught that to find anything out (like you would have to pull the roll of film out of the machine and unroll it!).

I can't imagine that's the case--but if you were a private investigator and very suspicious, you could always search for info that way!

Debbie

Oops, edited to say that it would only be INCOMING faxes that would be imprinted on the film. OUTGOING faxes would be fine. Sorry about that! You should be fine!

It depends on the type of fax machine. Most of them read the document into memory and then transmit it. So yes, your friend could print out a history of what was sent if he has that type of machine. (most are that way so they can keep redialing if the line is busy)

I would check with your bank and see if they have a fax machine you can use. Your bank already knows all that info about you. The guy who works at Office Depot who has a buddy who knows someone who runs a burglary ring . . . . nah I'm probably just being paranoid.
