I sure hope that's enough!

Yeah for Chip and Kim! I'm so glad it was them that won! I was practically fidgeting at the end with the way they edited it. ::grin::

(And I'm really happy it wasn't Colin and Christie that won! ::ducking::)

Woo-hoo! :)

Edited to add more comments:
Well, now that I'm doing doing my happy dance and shrieking excitedly at my husband, I wanted to post a bit more. ;)

Yeah for Chip and Kim! I was so excited when they got the better flight at Calgary because of the first one being delayed, even when the others got on the leg to Denver because they at least had definite seats all the way to Dallas. And it's entertaining that FCC regulations basically bit the other two teams in the butt with the whole luggage already being checked thing. I bet they were wishing they hadn't bothered to check any luggage at all at that point. ;)

I am sorry that the Moms were eliminated in the Philippines, but the task to climb the cliff there looked HARD! I just think it was cool that they completed it at all and made it to the rest stop, even if they were the last team there. It would have been neat to see them through all the way to the end, but with a task like that it was pretty obvious that it was going to take out either the Moms or Chip and Kim. I knew it wouldn't slow Colin down.

But I am really, really happy it wasn't Colin and Christie who won! Especially with all of his revenge talk, and her comments about karma and you get what you give. If that's the case, shouldn't they have been eliminated long before the end? ;) They were both being rather childish about the whole yield thing, and hadn't really been all that endearing with the way they were acting for the past several episodes. I've not cared for him for awhile, and she's basically showed herself to be nearly as bad as him in the past few episodes.

I think it was a pretty good race all in all though! Now granted, this is the first season I've watched, but I sure hope the next season is just as interesting!

Hooray for Chip and Kim!!! I was rooting for them from the very beginning. I'm so glad they won!! I really wish they would have shown Colin and Christie in the towncar when they realized that they hadn't won.

WOO HOO CHIP AND KIM!!!!!!

I am so excited! They were awesome!

I was so proud of Karen and Linda for getting as far as they did. Those two were a great team!

This was an awesome season! I loved every second of it, especially when Colin & Christie did not win! THAT made my evening, for sure!!

SO HAPPY!!! I hope Christi gets it through her head that Colin is a huge LOSER! (and I don't mean the race)

I think this is the first time I have been happy with the result of the AR, but I am truely happy for Chip and Kim.

Yippee, yippee, yippee!!! I can't believe after all that everyone went through that it came down to the last flight. I was on the edge of my seat and my heart was racing. I am so happy for Chip and Kim!!!!! Even moreso because dh said he would have been OK with Colin & Christie winning.

Happy dance!!!!

I am so glad Chip and Kim won. They are such great people.

On a side note, I thought some of the challenges were quite unfair for the Bowling Moms. For the next race, they should make each player do an equal # of tasks. I felt bad, they really fought it out. They were some pretty tough Mama's!

Yay for Chip & Kim!!!!!!!!

And how awesome was that that C&C didn't win. Despite his little speach at the end, Colin is still such an ASS.

Did anyone see him (and Phil, Christie, Mirna & Charla) on the red carpet at the Emmy's on Sunday. He looked like a doofus and blamed it all on editing. I'm sure editing is a part of it but his anger issues were very apparant.

OMG I'm so happy I cried. Yeah Chip and Kim!

I made the mistake of watching with DH, who hasn't watched a single episode, so he then pestered me with questions the entire two hours. I was ready to slap him so he'd shut up!

I can't sleep right now because I just have too much adrenaline! I was literally shrieking at the TV, yelling at Chip and Kim to hurry up.

Best final hour of reality TV, EVER. IMHO, of course. :) I give this episode an A+++. I'm sooooo happy for Chip and Kim. He just seems like the nicest guy.

The editors can skew perceptions, but they don't just MAKE UP stuff out of the blue. They can only work with what they have. No one forced Colin to have a total lunatic meltdown in the Philippines.

I'm glad this show won another Emmy on Sunday night. Tonight's episode showed what an awesome job the producers do to create suspense and tension. Now I just wish CBS would wake up and do a better job of promoting the Amazing Race.

YAY! YAY! YAY! For Chip and Kim!

I think the best thing about this race is that a simple flight delay can turn the tables on the whole game. In that way, it's the most exciting reality show on t.v.

My heart was pounding. At one point I felt nauseuos. It was like watching the SuperBowl or something!

CHip and Kim definitely get props from me, but you know they were soooooo lucky. DH says sometimes it;s better to be lucky than be smart - not that they aren't smart. now as much as I was disappointed that Kim didn't participate more in the challenges, I think it's great that she and Chip have this chemistry that sort of works for them. She was low key, but she definitely competed hard. Neither of them ever yelled, or said awful things to eacher other. Chip and Kim truly operated like a unit, unlike te other finalists who were often at odds w/ each other. I think the experience of being long-time partners as spouses and parents, helped them fend off the younger couples. Luck was definitely on their side, though, with that whole flight delay thing.

It's funny bc as those guys were packing their stuff in boxes, I was thinking..."what a great idea!" Funny how it worked against them in the end.

DH and I have watched every season so far, and this was by far the most satisfying finish. No other winners so far were such bigtime underdogs, closest were Zack and Flo).

I thought it was a little weird that Chip wanted to hug the twins. Weird!

Hey, Nicole and Brandon did not dissapoint this week - they followed their tradition of choosing the lamest challenge possible. DH pointed out that at the end Nicole said she loved Brandon, but Brandon didn't say he loved her. Hmmmmmhhh?

I know that editing can make any team loook good/bad. From everything I've seen of Colin&Christy, I really actually believe that they *are* bad. He was so smug about passing up the bowling moms (boy, was that agonizing to watch...I wanted to reach into the tv screen and PULL her up the cliff) and when he was coming down the skying hill - hotdogging w/ his flips and whatnot. In the end, though...I thought he was very good about coming in second. He said all the right things - but why did he wait until the very end? He and Christy were high on the gag factor w/ all their lovey-dovey talk there at the end. Especially sickening bc we know how verbally abusive he is, and how twisted and narcisistic they both are.

Proud of the bowling moms...It was great to see Myrna and Charla (they were my fave team this season).

Until next season, my fellow AR fans...It's been fun!!!

Wow, OMG! What a race this was. I'm sooooo glad that Chip and Kim won! They were my favorite since the beginning. When Colin and Christie pulled up to the maze, C&K were already heading out to the final stop. I told my DH as we were watching that it had to have been editing that made it look close 'cause C&K seemed lilke they had a pretty big lead, IMO. Even though, my heart was still beating so fast. Even my DH got into it at the end (and I had to push him to watch it w/ me).

The Bowling Moms rock! I'm so in awe of those two. I couldn't believe Linda did that bridge thing last week, and then to have Karen climb up the side of the Limestone Rock...amazing. I'm not worthy...I'm not worthy...

Brandon and Nicole made a judgement error again in choosing between the bikes and the luge. It seemed pretty clear to me which one to do. Having Nicole break down on the bike route did not surprise me one bit. I actually had a soft spot for Brandon in the end...he grew on me.

Boy, Colin and Christie really had it in for Chip and Kim, didn't they? That "yield" sure did throw them for a loop. Christie wouldn't even hug him at the pit stop. I was LOL when they got on the raft and then they fell over. Big strategic mistake for C&C and N&B to have checked in a separate package.

BTW, I've been to the area of the Philippines (Palawan) where they did a lot of the challenges and the filming during the race does not do that place justice. It is more gorgeous than the film shows...paradise.

Wow. Can't wait for the next one. :)

Great show! Okay, am I the only one waiting for C&C's cab to get pulled over for speeding and driving on the shoulder? I thought that would be the best footage ever...Colin getting angry at a cop for pulling over his cab for breaking several laws! Anyway, I'm thrilled for Chip and Kim!

I think it was on TV and not in our neighborhood, but did you hear the sirens at the end? It was after Chip and Kim arrived, but before we say Colin and Christie. My husband and I thought we were going to see C&C being followed by the police! It would have been funny.

I think there should be a penalty for doing, or encouraging someone else to do, something that could endanger other people. Driving fast on a shoulder like that isn't safe and could have caused a crash.

babymama
09-22-2004, 11:46 AM
I was yelling at them to hurry up too!!!

I couldn't believe that they took so much time putting on their cold-weather gear when they arrived in Calgary. DH was convinced until the very end, that their wardrobe change would cost them the game. Then at the end, Chip was taking his time paying the cab driver??? I was thinking couldn't you have done that en route...I mean you were sitting in some pretty thick traffic, how hard could it have been to take care of your payment before arriving!!!

In the end, though it looked like C&K won by a big margin. Phil had time to interview them and all before Colin & Christy arrived.

Yay for AR winning the emmy again this year!!! I agree CBS has a total jewel on their hands, that they are not promoting enough. DH said last week it was the lowest rated show in its timeslot.

Colin PROPOSED to Christy LIVE on CBS's The Early Show! Gag! Of course she said yes.

They had all the last four teams on the show and presented Chip and Kim with their check.

Did she watch the show? I can maybe understand in the moment you don't hear the verbal abuse but I would think after SEEING it she would realize how horrible he is to her! Or that her friends and family would point it out to her! Gag is right!

And why does it not surprise me that Colin would have to steal the spotlight from Chip and Kim and their great victory?

I LOVED it!!! But I was a mess - crying at the bowling moms' tearful acceptance of being last, and their little interview. Then crying when Chip broke down with Kim. Oh geez - get a grip! LOL, but I'm so glad they won. I wasn't pleased when Chip and Reichen won last time, so I figured a team I didn't like would win this time. PHEW! I'm so irritated by C&C - I guess they deserve each other. And I heard the sirens, too, and wondered if C&C had a police escort, of sorts. LOL!

brubeck
09-22-2004, 01:19 PM
I was just glad to see Colin lose. And I was wondering the same thing about the sirens. I half-expected the white town car to pull up with police cars right behind it! The way that guy drove I am surprised he didn't drive right up on the grass next to the mat!

I was really impressed with Brandon again when he dealt with Nicki's problems and didn't get angry at her. What a difference between him and Colin! Nicole is just breaking down in the hill and he tells her just to jump on his back and he'll carry her to the other task.

WHY did those teams check luggage? I don't understand that. If they didn't want the stuff they could have dumped it in the trash or maybe mailed it?

Yeah, I caught it this AM as well. Did you see the body language on Brandon and Nicole? They did not touch/hold hands or have eye contact at all. Their responses were pretty vague when Harry Smith asked whether they were still together. Their relationship was definitely tested during the race. I'm sure it was an eye opener for Brandon.

I also completely lost it when the bowling moms came in last. They were truly a team.

I had a hard time falling asleep after watching that episode. It really got the ol' heart pumping!

Chip and Kim are nice, and I was glad they won, but I felt like Chip totally carried Kim. Although I guess you could argue that she was really supportive and that's not to be undervalued.

I've been thinking about this. I really do give them credit as a team because with the exception of the Road Blocks everything truly did have to be done together. If she truly was a weak link or being carried, they would not have won, kwim?

I read somewhere that while Chip did all the roadblocks, Kim did all the "support" tasks, like reading the maps, taking care of the money, packing the bags, booking the airline tickets, getting food for the team....the boring things that would not get a lot of airtime on camera. Having a reliable support person to do these tasks was just as important to the team so that Chip could concentrate on the "bigger" challenges.

and don't forget it was Kim who totally climbed that mountain in the snow and Chip who was lagging behind, probably spurred on by the thought of how it was going to look if she made it up there and he was the one who had to rest!

I'm really glad that Chip and Kim won. DH asked me who I want to win and I said "anyone but Colin and Christie and hopefully not Brandon and Nicole either"

The whole show was just totally awesome. I knew the bowling moms would have trouble with the climbing thing, and I knew Colin would just zip up there like a spider in a web. But I didn't expect Chip to have so much trouble. It really added to the drama.

I LOVED it when Chip pretended that the flag was the wrong one so Brandon and Nicole didn't know!

And what was with Brandon telling Chip to get away from Nicole in the water? What if she really was drowning? And why couldn't she dive down and open the clam? And can you believe that Kim can't swim and they entered this race anyway and WON it.

I knew something was up with the checked luggage when they kept showing them taping up their boxes. But I don't understand why they wouldn't just let them go on without their luggage and then American would have put the luggage out when they matched passengers to bags.

I wonder how long it really took them to do the maze. And I wonder why none of them put one person up on the observation platform to direct the other person around . . .

Best editing moment:
Brandon telling Nicole to picture Jesus at the top of the mountain with his arms out waiting for her . . . and then cut to Colin telling Christie to picture a million dollars up there. LOL!

i knew there was someting going to happen with the luggage, i just thought that it would be that since C and K didn't check it, they would be behind..

I loved the episode and definitely got when brandon said that about Jesus on the mountain..

does anyone know how behind colin and christie were at the end??

did anyone see colin propose to christie today on tv and said he was a victim of editing!!!

But I don't
>understand why they wouldn't just let them go on without their
>luggage and then American would have put the luggage out when
>they matched passengers to bags.
I think the issue was that they checked their bags through on United, but wanted to get on a flight on American. I think if they were using the same airline for standby, it would have been no problem. DH was wondering why an airline rep in Canda didn't say anything to them bc they were very clear about wanting to get to Dallas ASAP even if it meant changing airlines. I know they're Canadian and may not be as familiar w/ FAA reqs, but they do work for an international airline.

>I wonder how long it really took them to do the maze. And I
>wonder why none of them put one person up on the observation
>platform to direct the other person around . . .
I missed the observational deck!!! Wow! That would have been the smart thing to do. I was wondering why they didn't split up. There was only one set of keys of course, but they could have located both boxes and used the whistle system that DH and I use when we lose each other in Target. The observation deck would have been so much easier!

>Best editing moment:
>Brandon telling Nicole to picture Jesus at the top of the

Karen-

ITA about picturing Jesus vs. $ on the mountain. It was like the devil vs. the angel on the shoulder. That was my favorite part!! And then Colin was telling Christie to hurry up and it wasn't like she was dying. What a clod!

I wonder what Brandon and Nicole thought of all their religious statements. I got so tired of hearing throughout this episode how it will be god's will if they win.

So glad Chip and Kim won! So happy C&C didn't win!

I think Chip and Kim did check something - because when they were going to the airport leaving everyone else sleeping, they had a box taped up on the luggage cart. It probably wasn't an issue for them since they had seats all the way on United.

I bet when they arrived the AR support picked up their checked bags while the teams continued to race. They do get support throughout the race: http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/life/20040921/d_race21.art.htm
