From previous posts I can see that the wooden ones are a big favorite around here and I was going to buy the guidecraft one but my daughter told me the kids really like to play with the plastic ones better.
Other than esthetics,is there a reason for the preference for the wood?
Also does anyone have the Little Tykes or the Step 2 plastic kitchen?

Which kitchen do you all like, either plastic or wood?
Also does anyone know who is offering the best deal on the Thomas play table and board?
THANKS so much.

Sorry I can't help you; my DS is way too young for that kind of toy, and none of my nephews have ever had one.

You might find it easier to get responses in Around the House, which is meant for discussion of that kind of product. :)

I've had both types before, really either will do, what you do tend to avoid with the wooden ones are the electronic bits but some don't mind that ;)

I find my wooden ones are very sturdy & more neutral in their colors than some of the plastic ones but really in the end it's probably more about the overall "look" and basic designs that sway people one way or the other.

Thank you.
I don't usually fixate on these decisions but the price difference is pretty significant if one is not going to be enjoyed more than the other.

I think it depends upon the family, philosophy and of course the child.

We prefer more natural toys here, less plastic & electronic, so that why I am in search of a wooden one. We already have wooden play foods, etc. so that is the way we are going to go. Plus, we do not have a family/play room so it will most likely be in my living room. LOL.

There are others who also feel that certain types of plastics release harmful emissions into the air, too. I am sure if you do a google on something like "toxic plastic," you can read that point of view, as well.

Do you mean the train table? Have you checked your Target and Costco? I don't know if they are Thomas, but I've seen them there.

Good luck to you!

We have a plastic one from Step 2 (kitchen for two) and love it. It's small enough that it doesn't take up too much space, yet it has everything.

However, now that I'm into decorating the place, I do wish I had more wooden toys! Somehow the teal and pink don't go too well with my color scheme ;)
