my kid has rolled over for a while now, does it with style.ONLY, it is only back to belly, not the other way around. Why is this? Is it normal??? It's not that he really tries, either...I'm just a little worried...

This is totally normal! Both of my kids did this. In fact with DD it was really frustrating because I would lay her down on a blanket and start doing something (like folding laundry) right next to her. She would roll onto her tummy and then not be able to get back and after a couple of tries she would start wailing until I flipped her. Repeat every 5 minutes. I was SO happy the day she learned to do it the other way, but it took over a month!

Most kids learn how to flip one way before learning how to do it the other way. So no worries!

However if you really are concerned don't hesitate to bring it up with your ped.

It may be slightly odd, but it isn't all-caps WEIRD. Mine did that too. And she hated being on her tummy and got stuck and howled. She behaved as if it was totally not her idea, gravity was just pulling her that way. One morning she did it 10 times before DH left for work! I was so happy when she learned how *not* to roll over when she didn't want to. Learning to do front to back was good too.

My son has rolled from back to front exactly 5 times. He hasn't done it in 2 weeks. I think he figured out it got him to his tummy, which he hates!

Tori did this for six weeks before she rolled from tummy to back. Now she rolls whereever she wants to go since she'd not crawling yet.

Don't worry. Jackson was sitting up for awhile and almost crawling before he started rolling from his tummy to his back. It worried me too but he is normal now. It was everyone else who made me so paranoid about it. Yes...it is weird but he is fine. :)

Yep, totally normal. Now, several of my friends have babies who rolled stomach to back first, mostly because they hated being on their tummies so much! DD learned it the other way, and while she wasn't thrilled with being on her tummy, I think she was mostly complaining about having to go to sleep. Anyway, it took her a couple weeks to figure out the other way and another couple weeks before she was rolling over and over. Rolling in either direction takes different muscles--it's really a different skill. So they tend to learn one and then the other.

My DS was born April 12, and has been rolling back to tummy for several weeks now. Just in the past week or so has he begun to roll tummy to back, and even then he only makes it about 1/3 of the time, so you will probably see the same thing from your DS very soon! I recall this was pretty much the same pattern with my DD. Totally normal.

very reassuring as always...
I'm just paranoid...we had a slightly elevated lead level(within normal, but higher than we would like it to be) so now I keep watching him for "milestones"...

When Taran started rolling over, he would go back to belly too. And then he'd get all upset because he was on his belly and couldn't get onto his back. ;) So I wouldn't say it's weird. He did eventually get around to rolling over from belly to back as well. So I suspect that Erik will get there eventually too, just right now he's perfectly happy with only going one way. ::grin::
