Our bedroom is in desperate need of a makeover. I need to get on a show, lol. Hello, While You Were Out. How bad is it? We've been living here since March and still have no window treatments. My DH actually hung a Bob Marley flag over the window to block the sun. Can we say college dorm?? We also have a sliding glass door that goes out to a balconey. Right now we have a wooden screen blocking it. I despretly need to get some curtains because DS keeps playing with it and it's fallen on him a couple of time. (Whoops, hehe!)
So DH has finally given me the go ahead to spend, spend, spend! (within reason!) The bedroom in painted in an ICI Dulux color called "Romance". To be honest, I picked the color mainly because I loved the dreamy name. It's white with a tint of blue violet. It was in the purple family. I love purple and had visions of decorating my room in lots of purple shades and maybe some green.
I found two beddings I really like. They are both so different from each other though. One is super feminine and the other is a little more funky. How to choose, how to choose? Help please! And after I pick the bedding I will need help with curtains. I know for the balconey I want something on metal rings since we go out there a lot.

Angie,
I hear ya on the dorm look! Our whole home continues to look like a hodge podge of our "bachelor days"!LOL! I am really tired of it, but don't want to spend a lot of money now that Andrew won't sit in his chair to eat and oftentimes I find pieces of his dinner scattered throughout the living areas! :)
I like both of the bedding sets that you have picked out. However, I know my DH probably would not be too thrilled with all the ruffles and "frou frou". I really like the tailored look on the second set that you chose. I have started looking for things for my home that are more tailored and clean lined.
So my vote would be for the second set!
Good luck and have fun!

Congrats on getting the go-ahead to decorate your room! We are also in the rut of college/hand-me-down furniture. I think our next move (hopefully this spring) will finally bring some transition and new furniture - yay! Both bedding sets you picked out are really nice. My vote is for the second one -- I like the modern, funky, simple design of it and the colors are great. I could see dh being excited about it too. Good luck!

LOL, I guess I should have added that my DH could care less about how I decorate the room. But I am leaning toward the second set too. It looks like lots of fun and I think with the different shades of color I'll be able to match different curtains and rugs easily.

I really like the second one, too. As far as the sliding glass doors go, unless you are handy, you might have to have something custom made. I was just searching for a patio curtain to put on rings for our kitchen, and found very, very few options (and they all were bland and boring) without spending a fortune or having something custom made (which also costs quite a bit).
I prefer the second one as I'm not a ruffly, flowery person. But, ask your DH. He might actually like the first...I think some men love the idea of a really feminine bedroom...kinda sexy perhaps, so it is perhaps a turn on for them. Eg. coming to their woman's boudiour (sp?)
Also, what type of furniture do you have or hope to have? The furniture (headboard and chests etc) help establish a style. For example, if you have more modern furniture the first set won't look very well. We have a couple of different sets of bedding but we tend to go with mixing solids (creamy biege w/ cranberry red and grey w/lavendar). The gray with lavendar set is Calvin Klein and I love his bedding. it is very simple. It also has different purple tones that you might like too. Here's macy's with some of his sets

Anyway, good luck and keep us updated and let us if you need any more help. I love trying to decorate.

Definitely the second one.
For curtains, would a matching sheet be the right length for your balcony window? You can buy curtain rings with clips to hang the sheet on a rod. It may work perfectly or not at all. If it does, it's a really cheap way to get a coordinating look.
