View Full Version : Help! She fell out of her crib!

Ally woke up around 7 this morning. I gave her a bottle and laid down myself on the spare bed in her room, as I had a headache. Well, she started to fuss in her crib, but I left her alone as she will usually go back to sleep if I do. But not this time!

I hear her whining (I had my eyes closed) and then a thud. She climbed out of her crib, then fell on the floor! Luckily she didn't get hurt, but she was so upset and scared that she cried for about ten minutes straight.

What can I do to keep her in her crib? I just put her down for a nap and I pushed the crib against the wall and lined the floor with comforters and pillows. This stinks, because if I need a safe place to put her while I am going to the bathroom or putting on some laundry I put her in there. Now I am going to be scared to leave her.

At 14 months, I thought that I had some more time before she figured out how to do this! She is already able to climb out of her superyard, so it's become useless. I didn't use it too much anyway, but it was nice to have.

Any suggestions? All advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

That's scary but I'm glad she didn't get hurt. My DS has not attempted this - yet - but some of my friends purchased the crib tents for their children's cribs. I would make sure Ally's door is gated just in case she gets out again + double-check that the furniture is secure.

I'm so sorry this happened. My ds isn't at that point yet, so I can't offer personal advice, but I have seen the Cozy Crib Tent from One Step Ahead. It might help you. Good luck.

I am so sorry to hear this. It's such a scary thing! I think the tent idea is a good one. Is her mattress dropped to the lowest point and is everything out of the crib? Kieran would use the bumper to prop himself up to get out. We removed everything and now he stays inside.

Yes, we've been using this since DD was a newborn (mostly to keep the cats out of her crib). We will keep it on there until we move her to a big bed. It's supposed to keep pets out, toddlers from throwing toys into the crib, and babies in. I've been told that as the baby becomes more clever, you may have to safety pin the zipper, but I'm not there yet.

Crib tent!!! I have a friend with a climber and she swears by it. FORTUNATELY, Sophie hasn't tried this yet, but she *has* gotten out of her corral a couple of times.

I'm sooooo not ready for that!!!
