A few months back, Family Fun had a recipe for a 'basic brownie' recipe that you could alter several ways to make several VERY yummy looking brownies. I saved the pages with the yummy brownie recipes but I don't have the BASIC recipe!

Does anyone have it?? :D

Thanks!

I'm good about saving those magazines since they are so chock full of great ideas!! I'll try to find the article for you and mail it or have DH scan it at work and email it to you.

ETA: I found in the May 2004 mag, a recipe for brownies but the only variation was the peanut butter cup brownies. You mentioned that you saved a page of variations. I'll keep checking them!

I know that I saved it but don't know where it is. If you don't get it by tonight, LMK and I'll find it for you!

Nope, that's not it. The basic recipe you could add cocoa to to make chocolate or it could be kind of a blonde brownies recipe.

I still need it Lori! :D

I have Family Fun for the last couple years. Any hints on when the recipe ran in the magazine??

Found it (May 2004, pages 100-103)! It's pretty long - can I fax it to you somehow? Or mail it to you?

Can you scan it for the rest of us brownie addicts? ;)

I don't have access to a functioning scanner here or at work. I'd type it into e-mail but it is long. Maybe Beth can help with the scanning part since it sounds like she might have the recipe handy, too.

I do have it handy, but alas, our scanner is dead and needs to be replaced. And the recipe is LONG!

ETA: Upon further reflection, I'm not sure this is the right recipe. Angela said there were several variations, but only one is listed, for the peanut butter cup brownies. And the basic recipe has chocolate as an ingredient and is definitely not for blonde brownies.

Oh, hmm, then I don't have the right recipe either. And I looked through several months' worth of magazines and only saw this one brownie recipe. The mystery persists...

I checked all my mags and I can't find another one either.

On the page of the magazine, which date and page does it give on the part of the receipe that you do have?

You guys rock! Okay, I trimmed off the page numbers/issue date (I rip out what I want and paste them in a 3 ring binder). But, it's called "Quick Cookie Bar Crust" and is on page 83. The recipe variations that I saved are for Maple Pecan Bars, Sugar Dusted Lemon Bars and Chewy Chocolate Chip bars.

Thanks!!! :D
