How long can you be on COBRA?

I just had a little panic that my COBRA may be ending soon, and I've yet to take advantage of the dental coverage...does anyone know how long you can stay on COBRA?

When I was on it years ago, I'm pretty sure it was 18 mos. But hopefully someone more knowledgeable will give you a definite answer.

The federal limit is 18 months. California has an additional 18 months on top of that. Instead of paying 105% on top of the premium, I believe its something like 125%.

It's 18 months for termination of employment (which I'm assuming is your case). Other scenarios (death of employee, divorce, disability) can mean a longer period of coverage.

Oh good, thanks! I think I'm going on 11 months or so, from when I was officially classified as part-time. Then I left in June. So I've still got time to go to the dentist.

I was on COBRA for 18 months. Was pricey but worth it!!
