View Full Version : Update on my FIL

Just wanted to give you guys an update on him (he was diagnosed with prostate cancer last week).

He had a bone scan earlier in the week and thankfully, they didn't find anything. A MRI was also done to check his lymph nodes and they, too, are all clear, although they think they saw something resembling a kidney stone.

He's going for a kidney ultrasound Monday to see what the story is. He already has received a hormone shot to reduce the size of the tumor and then he will be having radiation (both directed and implanted seeds) in four months.

Thanks so much for all the well wishes. They're working!!!

Marisa, that's great! When my SIL's lymph nodes were clear that was the point at which I relaxed a little. It doesn't make the treatment any easier, but it certainly makes the outlook brighter!

More power to your FIL and we'll be thinking about him!

That's wonderful. I hope he recovers quicly from the radiation. I was reading up on the prostate and I read somewhere that drinking tea may help prevent prostate cancer.

What a relief that there was nothing found in the bone scan. I hope the treatments go easily and quickly for him. Hang in there.

Marisa,
So glad to hear the lymph nodes test was negative!! A kidney stone won't be comfy, but its a much better alternative!
