I'm on cable and they are usually insanely slow also. The only "good" time for me is right about now when it's midnight my time but 1am on the east coast and I'm guessing a lot less people are on the boards. I know there are a fair amount of people from the eastern time zone.

I've been wondering if they are slow because of the avatars. Some avatars are not pre-sized to be 48x48- there are some that are really huge and it re-sizes it to be the standard size in the posts, but it downloads the entire picture to your computer. It some cases it is 30K, 40K, 50K... which for one pic isn't a big deal, but then lets say you open a thread that has 20 responses and each avatar is not pre-sized, then I think it really slows everything down. (I hope that makes sense!)
