There are a lot of people posting pictures so I thought we could combine them all into one thread. Here's ours. I'm still searching for the perfect card stock to mount it on. I want something textured. Any ideas on what color would look good? I'm going to print the inside message on vellum. I'll post another picture of the finished product later.

Pam, I love Neve's new avatar. The card is really fun, too! I'm going to work on ours tomorrow (instead of fighting crowds in the malls).

cute card angie.
here's my 2 c. since you have a four color pic, you may be better off on a smoother paper. if you use a cream or khaki stock, your image will pick up some of the color and you can also create a fake border if you reduce your image just a bit.

kinda like this...(though the khaki is a lot more exaggerated than your actual stock would be)
http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/user_files/17677.jpg

that bare butt is so cute!! if you had a couple of the pics closer up, it would be cute too!

Ooh, I'm liking the khaki! I actually have a ton of smooth card stock. I guess I should look at it. I don't know why I was so obsessed in texture.

I'm going to email you right now!

Pam and Angie,

What great cards. Angie, I really like the blue background. For some reason I think it makes the pictures stand out more. Can you crop the one of ds laying on the beach and bring him closer. With that face I want to see him close up! And that butt! Too cute.

Wow, wow, wow, you are so talented! I love the way you did the card. I can't decide about the border. They both look great. The border you chose is so subtle anyway that the picture stands out regardless. I think I would go with the border. I do like the first star better. It is more magical. Your son is so handsome. Those lips! Those eyes!

Pixelprincess -
What effect did you apply to your primary picture? I love the gilded look contrasted with the full color shirt. Your DS is gonna be a real heartbreaker. I love the small shadow picture of him walking away above the quote. So cute!

thanks Lydia. I think he is cute too!

i use multiple Photoshop effects and usually keep altering the pic until I am happy with the end result. I am attaching the original pic so you can see...

Though, I started with a color image, then converted it to b/w in a new doc. Impoted the b/w image into the RGB doc. Since the background was a bit busy, I blurred it. I also made a selection of the shirt and his eyes...kept them in color, and the rest in b/w. I also used the various blending effects.

The background pic is an enlarged portion of his hawaiian shirt to tie into the photo, blended with the picture of him running away which was also created using the above. I use the radial blur filter to isolate the background.

I hope this helps somewhat!

Thanks Angie. I like the border too...something nice and pure about the white. I might do some of both. I was trying to create an Xmas tree with the text...dh couldn't see it!

I love my lil guy...thanks for the compliment! How's your card going?

Angie, darling card. Eileen, I like the blue! I like the blue better than the khaki below because the blue background makes you look for all the blue (and then spot Noah immediately). It draws your eyes to the cutie. The khaki background tended to draw my eyes to the sand and overlook Noah). You might even try a light light blue just to subtly pick up the other blues, but I do like the royal blue Eileen shows.

Here's ours. Originally, there were 3 pictures, but DH vetoed 2, he felt we only have one kid, so we only need one picture. (he'll send it to work people, too.)

Edit--Whoops! Doh! I didn't mean to post our name. I'll put it back up later.

I like it without the border... looks more like a card in the store.

Beautiful--Rowan is such a gorgeous little boy!

Great card Angie!! I agree with Jec (as always!).. the blue border kind of draws your attention to the pics and noah.. and combine all the pics together.. here it is with a lighter blue.

Your card is absolutely GORGEOUS!! Rowan is such a little cutie-pie.. love his eyes! Love everything about the card.. you can't go wrong with either one of the versions.

Weird thing.. i was working on our holiday card today and I have a graphic of Leela walking away too... not yet done but here is what ours will probably look like.. can you tell I am from India by the earth tones and the jute-like texture? heehee.

A - I like the top star and the border on the picture.

Thanks for the compliment on the card... earthy colours are my favs. :)
I have a Mac and use Photoshop Elements 2.0. It is available for Windows too and it is now selling for like $40 since 3.0 has come out. I haven't played with Image Suite so don't know what to tell you.. does it have comparable features to Elements? If you need help with your card, email me.. I can try and help you girlie!

I think I'll take you up on that! I was actually considering it before you offered but here is my dilemma...DS is turning two on Jan 8th and I really want to do a collage card (or should I say I really want YOU to do a collage card) for his invitation. But I also want to get my holiday card out and haven't a clue about what to do for it. For his b-day I thought something like...It's hard to believe...I know it's true, but our little man is turning two! Ok, how lame is that? See, I reaaaallllyyy need your help. Ok, I guess I'll pm you and we can go from there. THANK YOU!

Rashmi, your card is awesome...Leela is so cute. i love earth tones too!! Is the jute texture a p-shop background or the paper you are printing on.

Thanks for the compliment on Rowan's card. I don't remember having as much fun when I was designing cards when we didn't have a baby.

Girlie-

That is just gorgeous! I LOVE Indian paper. There used to be a vendor on the catwalk between the World Financial Center and the World Trade Center that sold paper like that.

*sigh* I miss shopping there.

And Pixel Princess -

WOW! Not only does your profession show, your little guy is flat out fabulous :)

Wow, everyone is so talented! Fantastic jobs. I must say, taking pictures of two kids is a lot harder than one! I admire the shot of Pam's kids, you got them all looking in one direction!

After looking at these wonderful creations I tried my hand at something. Just a rough draft that I've been working on this evening - I'm sure in the morning I'll consider it junk!

Edited to make the picture smaller...

I blame Rashmi for my current addiction to photo editing. :) This won't be a card but a mousepad for the grandparents. It will go with a B&W framed collage that is still stuck in "Mama Santa's" workshop since I decided to focus on knitting over the long weekend...
