For those of you who don't have a fireplace with a mantle (sp?), where do you hang the Christmas stockings? In the past, we put my step-daughters on her doorknob. This year I'd like to put everyone's out - but I'm at a loss for creative ideas...

Our new house has no fireplace so I guess we'll use our piano. Growing up, my parents used the landing at the top of the stairs to arrange the stockings.

We always put ours on the chair that that person sits at the table. Growing up, we had a mantle, but the stockings were WAAYY too heavy to stay up there, so chairs were the answer. And everyone just sat at the table and opened stocking presents in the morning.

I've seen people hang them on their stairs banister if you have one of those.

We hang ours from the top of the entertainment center. We have those stocking holders that sit on the edge with a hook over the edge. They're heavy enough to support our stockings without a problem.

We do the same.

Yep! That's what we did when we were growing up. We tied them around the banister.

If you have a coatrack you could use that.

Our were hung from a shelf (single shelf vs. shelving unit) that had a big clock on it.

I can't find a link...
But, I have seen stocking holders in catalogs. They are free standing and I remembering thinking they were cool and that I would order one next year.
Has anyone seen those?

Thanks guys! If anyone finds the link to stocking holders that would be great. No banister - our second floor is a converted attic and the stairs are hidden behind a door. I've thought about our entertainment center since I have a "no t.v." rule until 1pm on Christmas (although I have a strange feeling "Yule Be Wiggling" might be on this year), but ours is really tall and the top is desinged sort of like a butler tray - you know with what looks like crown molding around the top and the solid surface about two inches below that. No coat rack, although I have toyed with looking for a child height one for this purpose...
