Does anyone use an FM Transmitter w/ their iPod? I have the Griffin Technologies transmitter but there's a ton of static regardless of which station i have it set too! Anyone using something else that's better?

TIA!

We tried the Belkin one and it SUCKED. Apparently they really only work well if you're not in a heavily populated area.

Mac Addict (or maybe Mac World) did road tests a while back and by and large the best reviews came back for the thingy that you stick in your tape player.

m-

You *always* have the answers! I do have the tape adapter which is fine for my car since i have tape and CD, but our other car only has CD. The tape adapter is extremely clear! Figures, doesn't it? I'll scour the mac sites shortly!

HA! Always have the answers huh? Not quite. :)

I just happened to have read that article. I'd say it was AT LEAST 6-8m ago.

I have the iTrip, which is apple's FM transmitter for iPod. Even though I am here in Atlanta, it works very well. I've heard that the FM transmitters simply work better in some areas than in others. We use the tape deck adapter in DH's car, and it does work better- but I don't have a tape deck in my car. Luckily, the iTrip works fine for me.

ETA: I almost forgot: this may or may not help you, but the FM transmitters do work better when you find the "sweet spot" adjusting the volume in the iPod unit. Turn the iPod up as loud as it will go (you can adjust the car's volume to your taste), and then slowly turn the iPod volume down until you no longer hear any distortion. It will probably still be set very loud, but it tends to sound much better this way.

Of course, this doesn't help the static, but if there's any distortion contributing to the problem this will get rid of it.
