We all have those hard to shop for people on our lists, so I thought it would be fun to post some good gift ideas here! It can be an entire fun website or just cute and unique ideas, but we should probably keep any advertising outta here...just good honest gift-finding fun!

I found lots of cool, unique items at: www.wishingfish.com - for the cool, eclectic person in your life that has everything they don't need but is super-cute

One of my all-time favorites is www.sephora.com for great glosses and fun bath goodies. The Sephoa brand items are super affordable too!

Check out cool guy-gadgets at www.restorationhardware.com for gifts with a vintage flair. I think the retro handwarmers are quite classy and great for those chilly football games or hitting the links.

For that teen or tween in your life, www.fredflare.com has some way-cool gifts with great design. I found lots of things I liked on there!

I love www.harryanddavid.com for hostess gifts.

Can't wait to see what other people recommend!

My extremely talented friend just opened up her on-line *pop culture* jewelry store. I was the lucky recipient of her first attempts at miniature sushi stitch markers for knitters but these would be perfect for sushi buffs....

Not a website, a few friends this year are getting good grips whisks (the kind you can use on non-stick pots) filled with hershey kisses and a good grips measuring cup (the kind you can see the measurement from above). On the gift tag, I'm writing "I whisk you a Merry Christmas and a year of good measure." Corny, but relatively cheap and useful.

This had some fun gift ideas (I love the decade candy idea!):

Here are a bunch of alternative gift sites (i.e., gifts that benefit charities, etc.):

As a recent housewarming gift, I made a "Movie Night" basket for some friends. I wanted to include the kids in the gift, so I chose "Shrek 2" as the DVD, then added microwave popcorn, Swedish Fish, Milk Duds, sparkling cider and packets of gourmet cocoa mix. I also tucked in some Ghiradelli squares and a bottle of wine for Mom & Dad. The whole thing cost me about $35-$40 and was a HUGE hit.

The great thing about this is you could make this very simple (bargain movie, bag of M&Ms and box of popcorn) or even more elaborate (two movies, perhaps?) depending on your budget. You could also substitute a gift card for the video store if you don't know what kind of movies the recipient likes...

Hope this idea sparks some interest! Happy Holidays!

Cost Plus World Market has great stuff - unique ornaments, Ghirardelli chocolate plus other exotic snacks, a great wine department. You can buy a basket there and fill it with snacks for a reasonable price.

I love that decade candy idea. My father is impossible to shop for but I know he'll love a box of 50's candies!

The larger bath and body works stores have these adorable wristlets (brown w/white pokkadot trim) for 10.00. They are filled with 4 tiny henry bendel perfume samples.

Oooh - I can't wait to check out all the websites that have already been given! Here's a site that I haven't ordered from yet, but I love looking at their catalog www.flaxart.com

I love that site! My siblings work for Sam Flax in Atlanta, and they have the coolest gift stuff there!

I can't wait to have the time to check out all these websites - thanks, everyone!

Some things I've been happy to come up with lately are:
-a version of the movie night gift basket someone recommended above, only putting it all in a popcorn/snack bowl and including a Blockbuster gift card instead of a DVD (could also add a pizza place gift card or something) - with popcorn, Goldfish for the kids, apple juice, Coke, cute napkins, etc....
-Kohl's has some little tins with games for $8 - actually fun games like Uno and Bunko and cute kids' games too. I am giving these to several people as "family gifts" - and to couples as something to take when traveling.
-I love giving books to kids. I've found some great deals at places like Marshall's.
-We love our Tivo, and you can get one for less than $100 with rebate these days. A great gift! You can also give them money for the first few months' service ($12.95/month) if you are feeling generous!
-I once got a gift of baking sheets, nice vanilla extract, and a cookie recipe book that was a fun gift to receive.

I have in my kitchen and like to give hand painted glass soap dispensers and liquid dish soap dispensers. I think they are a unique and fun way to store boring necessities. I buy them from Gifts from the Heart (just picked up a special order today and ended up buying two more); Dawn is great to work with but I'm sure you could find something similar at a specialty shop or craft show. My DD's teachers are getting snowman soap dispensers.

Oooo that was one of my favorite stores in San Francisco! Somewhat expensive, but totally browseable for hours (w/o kids)!

Admittedly, the woman who makes this stuff is a friend of mine, but I have several of her pieces and I always get compliments on them every time I wear them. http://raptinmaille.com/launch.html They are perfect for teenagers and hip women.
