Santiago turned one 2 weeks ago! We celebrated 3 times! So I've got a lot of pictures to share.
We went out for cake on Santiago's actual bday. He hated wearing his special bday hat. Can you tell? http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/user_files/18037.jpg

Then we had a party at his school the day after his bday. He was sick and couldn't go to school on his actual bday. He was grumpy here bc he's used to me showing up = going home, he couldn't understand why I was there, but he wasn't going home. He wouldn't wear the hat.

Then we had a family and friends party at our house on the Sunday after his bday. We gave up on the hat.
Here are a couple of cake shots. The second one was emailed to me by a friend and I need to get the higher resolution version from her.

The pinata...this was the kind that you don't hit, but each kid pulls a string and one lucky kid pulls a string that opens the hatch and all the candy comes out. I like that it's non-violent and toddler friendly.

Opening presents. This is one of the only snapshots we captured of myself, DS, and DH (also included is a friend's son who helped open the presents). We're laughing bc we got 2 identical presents (wooden dump truck) from 2 different friends.

It was a good day. Santiago was a surprisingly gracious host! He was not at all clingy or fussy as I expected him to be. He ran around and played with the other kids and smiled and didn't cry (except once when the pinata broke and he startled bc everyone cheered). It was a fun celebration!
ETA: I just realized that Santiago is wearing the same overalls (from Target) in all these pictures. Oh my! Hope I don't get banished from the reality layette forum! :)
