Mac users, how do you look up how much memory you have left?

We're about to clean out a bunch of files and we want to make sure we're actually cleaning them out, so we'd like to see how much memory we have now and compare it with later. We can't find the area that shows us how much memory we have. We also did a Help search and couldn't find anything.
Any ideas?

I think you actually mean hard drive space!

If you're using OS X (this might work for OS 9 as well) then click once on the hard drive and then file --> Get Info

The window will open and tell you the capacity, availabe and used!
