I am not sure if this belongs here, but couldn't find any place else to post this question.

My DS is almost 7 months old and I am looking for suggestions on "classes" to bring him to. I am a first time Mommy who stays home so I guess I am looking for me as well.

In the fall we did Not Just Music together. He was probably too young but he seemed to enjoy watching all the kids and he loves the music. I was considering looking at the Gymboree classes, and was wondering if anyone has gone to any of them. I see lots of posts about their clothes so was wondering if people were just as pleased with their classes.

We live at the New Jersey Shore and unfortunately no Mommy and me stuff close by. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi. I searched past posts for you and found two that talk specifically about Gymboree and other types of classes to give a snapshot of people's experiences. We have never done Gymboree but did another music class when DD was that age and we had a great time.

We've been in Gymboree classes for a year now and DD loves them! You will find them cheesy at first but the little ones really do like it and it is a nice break to have someone else plan the activities for 45 minutes. I started DD around 1 but most of my friends started their children at a younger age. You can preview a class for free to see if you and DS like it. Be prepared that they usually don't "get it" the first time or two but soon love it; there also will probably be certain activities your DS will not want to do (which no one minds).

Good Luck!
Carrie

Oh yes - if you purchase a class package by Dec 24th you get Gymbucks.

We really enjoy the Gymboree classes. They are more expensive than other options, but in my area Gymboree is the only place that has Saturday classes.

Check with your local parks and rec, they usually have classes that are just as good but much cheaper.

Logan has learned so much at Gymboree by watching the other kids. She is not the adventurous type, she needs to see someone else do something before she will try it. Now she climbs and goes down slides, and I do believe she learned to walk by watching the other kids.

If a Gymboree is nearby, I definitely recommend it. We've been going off and on since Audrey was crawling. I personally prefer Little Gym, but I think it's hard to go wrong with either. There's so much for your DS to explore there.

Thank you all so much for your responses. I am definitely going to preview a class this week. I guess I am starting to get nervous about being inside for the winter and want to make sure that I have stuff lined up so we won't get bored. I am also hoping that this will help Matthew learn to crawl. He seems to have no interest, but hopefully seeing the other kids do it he may want to try.

Thanks again for all of your help.
