We're in the market for a coffee table/play table of sorts (hoping for one table that'll work for all!).

We're looking at these from Pottery Barn and really prefer the one w/ the baskets; however, it's not in stock and not available for order right now!

Any online suggestions for stores w/ similar stuff?

I'm a basket person myself, so I'd probably wait until they got more in stock. The actual play table is pretty cool, but depending on the look you are going for, the "scenery" on top might grow old. The first table will out live the play table function, but the second will always scream play table. So, I guess that is what you need to consider.

ETA: Looking closer, it is hard to tell if the play table has "scenery" or not. The pictures show it but the product description doesn't mention it. In that case the play table may not date itself as much. Although I kind of like the darker one better.

Thanks for your input! The 2nd table is definitely more "play" like but FWIW, the play portion is extra! I'd probably skip the mat, etc and just lay trains on it, legos, etc (that's what I say now!).

I'll keep calling Pottery Barn for a status on the 1st table. Figures there's finally something I love and want from them and it's on backorder!

We have the 2nd table and it is WONDERFUL! Absolutely sturdy, quality construction and a great addition. DS spends lots of time playing around it and pileing his pillow/blankets into one of the bins and getting in himself for pretend night-night. It still rolls easily with all of him in it. You might want to consider how much stuff you are going to shove in the baskets (how heavy they will be) to help you decide if you want the baskets or not. We are actually considering replacing our coffee table with another one. Yes, the matt is sold seperately. We don't have it, and don't seem to miss it just yet. The table might be pricy... but I think it is worth it if you have an active little one.

We have a coffee table that serves a similar purpose - it's different, though, in that it's upholstered - almost like a giant ottoman. The top lifts up to store tons of toys, DD couldn't bump her head on the corners, and the fabric adds a little something extra to the room. It's not plushy stuffed - very taught, enough that a glass of water can sit on it without being tippy. It's been a fantastic purchase - we found it at Calico Corners.
