View Full Version : Enough stuff for baby-- I'm buying for me now!

After spending thousands of dollars on stuff for the baby, I am concentrating on me now. I just bought a few Tahari suits, a Tahari evening gown, and a Rebecca Taylor suit (never heard of her but the suit looked cute online, so I will try it on) from Bluefly.com. You have to take care of yourself, and not let yourself go, you know? I know of two ladies, one who spends a lot of money and time on beauty treatments for herself and the other who looks like a slob with bad teeth and a big belly even though her youngest is 8 already. The one who spends money on herself is adored by her husband while the other cries on the phone because her husband told her she looks disgusting. Men are all the same... they go for looks!

Anyone else concentrating on themselves while taking care of baby?

Well, we can't afford for me to buy expensive outfits or get expensive beauty treatments, so I sure hope my hubby doesn't think I am disgusting.

We can't either. In fact, if I could afford it, my DH would shoot me for "unnecessary spending". I know my DH adores me, even with my acne, big belly and stretch marks. I don't have time, or money to take the kind of care of myself that you imply. My life revolves around taking care of my children, husband, house, and dog. I don't make a habit of walking around with boogies on my shoulder, but when I do, DH still greets me with a kiss. :)

I'd wager that men are not "all the same" and that some might be bothered by the suggestion that attributes of their wives' bodies should render them disgusting slobs. There are ways to take care of yourself other than spending piles of money, and ways to take care of a marriage other than trying to fit someone else's image of appropriate body type.

Please remember that we have women of all shapes and sizes on this board, and be careful in suggesting that some of those shapes are unacceptable. We've had several fat-bashing posts lately, and it's just not okay.

Yeah I am concentrating on taking care of myself. The most important way I take care of myself was to choose a husband who is not a shallow pig and loves me no matter what changes I go through as I age and no matter what clothes I happen to be wearing at the moment.

Men are not all the same and I suspect that you have offended quite a few men with your statement. It's not a very nice thing to say.

In fact, your post sounded a lot like a troll. A troll is a post that is made just to stir things up and start fights. We haven't really had any troll posts in about a month or so around here, so I was kind of surprised to see one from someone who is somewhat unfamiliar here but is not new.

My thoughts exactly - and let's not fee them.

Hmmmm, interesting.
