Exactly how painful is a bikini wax? Any tips for a bikini wax newbie?

I remember thinking it was NOT as bad as I expected...I expected it to be pretty bad.

ETA: To encourage you, I need to disclose that the benefits (of not having to shave, etc.) far exceed the pain for me. If I could afford them, I would be getting them all the time (in the summer, that is).

I expected total pain. It does hurt for a second, but its pretty quick. Then theres a short sting after, but the "waxer" (at a total loss for the correct term) will put a soothing gel or liquid on it.) Just don't plan to wear a bikini for a day or two.

I find it pretty damn unpleasant - probably 6-7 on a 1-10 scale.

Don't go right before your period and take Motrin before you go.

Find a good waxer and it's not that bad. Get a referral if you can. Definitely take an advil before you go.
