I asked our ped about getting these in separate doses, but she says they can't get them. She suggested I call the health department. I haven't had a chance to do that yet. Were you able to get them separately?

I found this info on another board:

"I have been trying to get ahold of separated m m and r vaxs for a few weeks now. An RN I know did some digging and found a pharmacy that stocks them and will sell single doses. All you have to do is fax the rx from your Dr. and they will send them to you at about $22.00 each plus shipping (a big savings over the $500 plus you would have to pay for lots of 10) The name of the pharmacy is Hopewell Pharmacy and Compounding 800-792-6670. Fax is 800-417-3864. They are located in New Jersey. "

That's great! I'll give them a call next week and make sure it is still the case. Our ped had no issues with giving them separately, so it should work well!

Thank you, Deb.

That's great! I'll give them a call next week and make sure it is still the case. Our ped had no issues with giving them separately, so it should work well!

Thank you, Deb.

I am extremely interested in this topic as well.. I am preparing to ask my Dr about seperating the vaccines, "preparing" b/c I expect the same fight that results from every vaccination inquiry I have. A friend (who goes to a different ped) faced this same issue and did a great deal of digging. She ended up dealing with the drug company itself. The deal she made with her Ped's office was that they would order the seperate shots (which were sold in lots of 10 or 12 I believe) but if they didn't have other parents requesting the same MMR seperation before they expired, then she would have to eat the lost cost, which I believe to be somewhere around $300. That's basically the story, but it was a couple years ago, so I am a little fuzzy with the details.

Does anyone know anything more specific about Hopewell Pharmacy?? How do you really know you are getting what you want?? I hate to be skeptical, but it's not as though they are mass producing and testing the way a big parm. company would.
I'd love more info if anyone has it..

TIA!

I know this thread is a year old, but I'm wondering if people are still able to get the MMR vaccination in separate components.

Thanks!

I've been in frequent contact with Dr. Yazbak (one of the experts on this and my childhood pediatrician!) and he said that it is only available in sets of 10. I'm going to call him tomorrow and hopefully get some more details.

I haven't spoken to Hopewell Pharmacy in over a year but when I called they were unable to get either the Measles or Mumps from the manufacturer. The woman I spoke with said she was unsure if they'd ever be able to get it again but they still were able to get the other two components.

I'm not sure whether this is still the case and I've been meaning to call myself.

I don't know a/t about the MMR shots but I did have a good experience with Hopewell Rx. They are a small compounding pharmacy, and very willing to work with you. I used them for a breastfeeding cream prescribed by my midwife. They were very helpful over the phone & answered my questions very clearly.

They're apparently quite easy to come by now. We're hunting for a new ped, and nobody I've asked has had any trouble getting them. Your ped hasn't actually tried to get them, it sounds like. They're widely available.

ETA: I'm an idiot. Didn't notice the date. Headsmack.

We've gotten our MMR split but only the larger Pediatrician Offices in my area do this. I reallly wanted to switch Ped for baby #2 but was unable to because no other Ped would split the shot for me or order the split shot.

My Ped keeps telling me that they aren't sold split in this country, only in the UK. Can someone tell me what exactly I need to do to get them/convince my ped otherwise?
What about the DaTP, is that one also available separately?
