View Full Version : Warning to Comcast users re: phishing scam via telephone

I have received a few calls over the past few weeks on my cell phone with a recording saying "this is Comcast calling about your account." I am asked to call 866-649-5991. When I call, I am immediately prompted to enter my credit card number in order to pay my bill.

I knew this was a scam for several reasons:
1. Our account is in my husband’s name
2. My cell phone number is not on the account, but I think I gave it to them once when we scheduled a service call.
3. Our account is paid up to date.
4. The asking of the cc info right off the bat.

I contacted Comcast and they confirmed that everything was okay with my account and that the call was not valid. I have filed a complaint with them. If it happens to you, you can let them know at [email protected]

BTW, we are Comcast high speed internet customers only, not cable tv customers.

Just wanted to spread the word!!!
