The MAC question got me thinking....I've been wanting a new foundation. I used to be devoted to Clinique stay true, but now my skin is a little drier, not as oily. I want something that gives good coverage of my pores. What are your favorites?

My favorite is a wet/dry compact from Smashbox. It's very sheer. And the new line will carry a cream foundation as well. It's about $33 and it lasts a good long time for me.

I bought Laura Mercier when I got married as I was doing my own makeup, and have loved it isnce. It is too $$ though...I do not use foundation everyday, though I should, as I have freckles ;)

I love, love, LOVE Bare Escentuals. It covers everything, including pores, yet looks really natural and doesn't feel cakey or greasy. Since I got it DH has been telling me I look like I'm 18 (I'm 33) and asking me what I'm doing different. :)

I love, love, LOVE Bare Escentuals. It covers everything, including pores, yet looks really natural and doesn't feel cakey or greasy. Since I got it DH has been telling me I look like I'm 18 (I'm 33) and asking me what I'm doing different. :)

I used to be a devoted MAC harlot but now I use Bare Escentuals and NARS lip glosses & blush. That plus a bit of mascara is more than enough for me.

Val, could you tell me more about Bare Escentuals? (I actaully saw an infomercial on it while I was in the hospital in labor, and it piqued my interest.)

I like the fact that it gives good sun protection without being heavy. Is it really easy to apply? My main concern is avoiding that cakey look, as yes (sigh) I do have a few fine lines but overall pretty smooth skin. I'd just like it to look even better... Also, is it easy to wash off?

TIA,
Marcy

I use Chanel Double Perfection. It is a pressed power foundation and I wish I didn't love it so much because it is almost $50. But it is not too heavy, and so easy to apply.

If anyone has recommendations for pressed powder foundation they like, please post 'em. I've used Mac and Stila in the past.

I agree with PP regarding Bare Escentuals, although I don't look 18! I get it at Ulta nowadays, since no BE store is near me. The price is reasonable. For better coverage, I use the "Kabuki" brush for application (short brush), that I purchased at a BE store in northern CA.

I also buy it at ulta. I've tried pretty much everything out there. Started on clinique as a teen, moved onto Lancome, tried EVERY MAC foundation, Stila (not for those of us with a bit of color), did the Prescriptives custom blended foundation and finally settled happily on BE.

The trick is definitely buffing the full 2 minutes on the foundation step.
