Any suggestions as to chain-type places that offer this? Any do's or don'ts? I've never had a tan but we have a cruise coming up that i'd like a little color for!

TIA - BTW I'm in NJ.

Don't breathe the stuff in if you can help it. Fake-o tans are definitely better than the real thing health wise but I read an article recently about the fact that the stuff in spray tans is not very safe to breathe in, so try to hold your breath.

I'm sure you meant tips from a practical getting a good tan perspective, but I thought I'd mention that just in case you were interested ;)

I also wanted to suggest that you not breath in the mist. I saw a TV news story recently about this. The FDA issued a warning that it's not safe to breath it in and the news people went into a bunch of salons with undercover cameras and at every salon they were told that it was completely safe, even if you breath it in.

Also, for the record, I'm an ex-tanning salon addict and still spend way too much time in the sun, so I'm not an anti-tan fanatic...just wanted you to know it's not as safe as the employees say it is, though they don't know for sure what kind of damage it can cause.

Exfoliate before you go.

The instructions in the dressing area should tell you to cover your heels and knees with lotion. Don't skimp. Think of it as icing.
