View Full Version : Thought I would give a quick update...

I have been MIA since Tuesday so I thought I would let everyone know what is going on. Still no baby but MAJOR contractions every 2-5 min. On Monday night I was having back labor with pains every 10 min. that carried on into Tuesday though I really didn't think it was labor. After timing the pains and talking to my Mom and aunt they convinced me to call my OB who sent me immediatly to the hospital. I was admitted that night with contractions every 3 min. On Wed. morning I was dialated to a 5 and have been there ever since dispite having killer contractions. :( I decided to come home on Thursday so that I am at least sleeping in my own bed and not away from Jackson for so long. Tyler's head is up too high due to the large amount of amniotic fluid so even though I am having all of these regular contractions I'm not changing. Because he is up so high right now my OB won't risk breaking my water because she thinks it is likely the cord will come out first. So here I sit.

I am MISERABLE!!! I never planned on having a six + day natural labor and still getting nowhere. I am physically, emotionally, and mentally drained and don't know how much more my body can take. I just want this baby OUT! I have another appt. on Tues. and if his head is down enough my OB will break my water and hopefully he will be her soon after. Right now the CTX are 2 min appt. and lasting 1 min. so I am debating how much longer I will wait until I go to the hospital. I just hate being told that there is no change.

No labor vibes needed...I've got plenty of that. Just send some move down baby vibes so that mommy can resume a normal life where I am not living in 2-5 min. intervals. :) Can't take sitting here much more so I've got to go. I just scrolled through the posts and even though I can't respond to all the new PG posts I wanted to say congratulations to all the new expectant moms!

Thanks for the update! I've been wondering how you've been doing. I'm so sorry you've been so miserable. Okay, no more extra labor vibes. Here's to the baby coming out soon and safely!

Tara,

Have you tried walking? I went into the hospital at 6 cm and 90% effaced and I didn't get any further until I started walking the halls. Once I started walking the halls, the ctx really got going!

Good luck & sending labor vibes your way!

Tara,

I'm sorry to hear things aren't going so smoothly. I was hoping you weren't around because you were busy with Tyler!

I can't even imagine a 6-day labor, especially with everything else you've been through.

Here's wishing you quick, safe, and happy vibes that Tyler comes out to join us soon!

Oh yea...I've walked! I was told on Wed. morning that I could get the epi. but held off so that I could try to walk him down. I walked for 45 min then was hooked up to the monitor for 15 min and did this all day Wed. and a few times through the night and again on Thurs. morning. Everyone was looking at me amazed that I hadn't had the baby. I got to know many people in the LD and Post pardum areas pretty well and saw women who checked in way after I did having their beautiful babies. The nurses joked that 50 years from now my ghost would still be walking the halls. The ctx are really strong but won't do anything until his little head is pushing on my cervix.

Please don't wait too long since you're already 5 dilated.Better to be sent home then deliver on the way there.Once I got to 6-7 dil. my labors would go pretty quick. Also make sure you're drinking lots of water ,it helps them not be as painful and to stop them if they are not doing the job.I had many nights of contractions w/my 4th baby before she decided to be born.Good luck and I hope you have a smooth delivery.

Awwwww Tara-I thought maybe you had delivered. Darn. I don't know how open minded you are but-Anna was also very high-I used visualization and I swear that it worked. I could feel her moving down. It was pretty wild.
Good luck to you-I'll be thinking of you. I hope you get some rest at home tonight. Thinking of you and sending wishes for a healthy and safe delivery.

Tara, I'm praying really hard that Tyler moves down and gives you the happy, healthy labor you desire. I'm so excited for you...totally thought you had the baby by now, but soon enough, right? Guess Tyler wanted to get a jump start on those sleepless nights. ;)

I hope you don't pass out from exhaustion before the pushing begins! You'll be in my thoughts this week. Tell Tyler we were all thinking of him when you meet him.

My mom and I went shopping today to try to get little Tyler to move on down but I don't know if it worked. I can't tell a change. Had mexican food for lunch and supper with no change. I'm about ready to give up.

At this point I am trying to talk DH into enjoying an activity that has been off limits since Jan. but he doesn't think that is a good idea. I'm willing to try anything! :)

I go to the doctor tomorrow afternoon and hopefully she will be able to break my water and get this show on the road. If I don't post by tomorrow night I am likely in the hospital having him. I'll try to teach DH how to post an update once he arrives (If he ever does).

Thanks for the support and well wishes!

Oh Tara -
HUGE HUGS!!!! This is exactly what I went through with Miss P and it is SO very frustrating! I did not have the complicating factor of her being high up - she was at plus 2 station so I COULD have had my water broken but was afraid that I STILL wouldn't progress so I refused it. I still need to get around to writing and posting my birth story - in laws in town and the computer in their room so I get only a min or two to lurk, but felt the need to respond to you with some big empathy! For me, the dilation and ctx started on 5/4 and she was born 5/18, but I was not contracting as regularly as you describe until 5/15 (just a few hours each night). Obviously each situation is different, but I would say to be prepared for a short (ie: INTENSE!) labor! I am not on the boards much at all but do try to check my e-mail at least daily so feel free to e-mail me if you'd like to commiserate! Here's hoping Tyler will move down and get things going for you! Good luck and take care.

tara, these little ones are stubborn aren't they. I did all of the above activities, including walking and walking everyday for hours when Iwas overdue for a whole week, to no avail. I scheduled an induction for Friday, Erik made his debut on Thursday :):)

Tyler has moved down a little but I wasn't totally comfortable with my water being broke with him still a little high so we are waiting until Thursday. I can do this one more day...I think! :)

Still walking, using birthing ball, trying to convince DH to help things along :) and trying visuilization but nothing is really working. I give up and will wait until Thursday to meet this little guy. OB gave me morphine to help me rest well the next 2 nights and it is starting to kick in so I am off to bed.

Hang in there! And, if you want to look ridiculous, I swear by curb-walking. One foot on the curb, one foot off....walk for awhile and turn around. It's probably a myth, just like all of the other advice, but it's the same concept as the birthing ball - open up your pelvis, etc., but you're walking at the same time.

Enjoy your sleep and keep us updated, momma!
